Caitlyn Thomas is terrified to start kindergarten until she makes a new friend in an unexpected place. Follow Cait and her newfound friend, Carter Anderson, through their school years, watch them mature and discover the world around them.
Caitlyn storms out of her father's car. Quickly she makes her way over to their bench where her boyfriend and his other best friend were waiting. Carter spots her and holds out her bleeding heart flower. She jumps into his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist. "Hey, baby! Happy last day of-" Carter is cut off by the sound of her sobbing. He hugs her tightly, knowing she needs comfort. "What's wrong?" He asks immediately, she buries her face in his neck and inhales his scent, jasmine, making her calm down slightly.
"They're getting a divorce!" She cries out, muffled against his neck, Carter and Tommy exchange glances. "They're already technically! Mom's getting Joey and Dad's getting me!" She sobs out, "I knew they were unhappy, but still!" She cries, Carter rubs her back gently, she shudders some, scaring him a little.
"I'm sure it'll work out. I mean! You'll still have Carter and me!" Tommy says, trying to be helpful, clearly failing since she keeps sobbing. Carter keeps tracing abstract patterns on her back, trying in vain to soothe his love. He breaths in her heavenly scent trying to keep himself from falling apart at her distressed state.
"You don't understand!" She yells pulling back from Carter still clutching him though. "I'm moving to Los Angeles!" She yells, everything freezes. The darkness overtook them. And now they're done. But their story is far from over.
