I look out into the sea of people wondering how on earth I'd gotten Li to coax me into this. Speaking of Li, she was nowhere in sight, disappeared into the crowd in search of her boyfriend.
I huff in annoyance, vowing to get my best friend back for ditching me. I make my way to the kitchen where I spot a Devil's Advocate Almanac. I pop the top and take a sip. Slipping out the door, I find myself in a backyard.
I sit on a bench, taking another sip of my drink. I slip off the bench and lay in the grass, staring at the stars. They were beautiful tonight.
I hum a song forming in my mind and a while later (might've been minutes or hours, I was too busy humming) another person lays down next to me.
"Aren't they beautiful?" I ask quietly, he/she hums in response. "They'd make the perfect painting."
"Trust me, any painting of them doesn't do them justice." A voice replies, we continue to sit in silence, just looking at the stars. At one point the man (I'd decided they were a man) handed me a flower, another moment he showed me the constellations.
"So are you an astronomy major then?" I ask softly he chuckles.
"No, I am just a humble art major. I minored in astronomy thought." He replies, I can't help but grin.
"No wonder you talked of paintings," I tell him, he chuckles.
"Yeah," There's a bit of hesitation in his voice. "I have to go, my friends will be looking for me. It was great being here with you. Have a great night Caitlyn." He says softly, standing and walking back to the party.
I decided to keep the moment a cherished secret, only telling Li that I'd gone out to look at the stars.
