[Adam's POV]
It's been a day since Anna was admitted to the hospital. I readjusted myself on the couch as I stared at the TV. I was watching old videos of me and Anna when we were younger. Some of the things I remember but most of them I don't. I felt lost without Anna. Mom came in and brought me a cup of hot chocolate, apparently it's snowing outside. I took a small sip and handed it back to her. Mom frowned and went back then she came back out and sat beside me.
"Adam, she's not-" Mom started but I interrupted her
"How do you know she won't die?! I'm trying to remember her but she is dying! It's my fault, I saw the mark on her arm two days ago, I knew she was sick but I was to scared to do anything and she didn't notice." I stated while pausing the video on the TV
Mom's eyes grew wide.
"You knew?!! Adam why didn't you tell us?"
I got mad. I stood up and faced her.
"You're not listening to me at all! I said I was to scared to say anything!!" I yelled at her with my voice raising at every word.
"Well it's not my fault you're a coward, Adam! If you weren't so shy and scared to speak up Anna wouldn't be dying!"
I scoffed at her. That was the meanest thing Mom has ever said to me.
"Can't you see that I am trying to speak up and not to be shy?! Well I'm sorry if I failed you as a child, Mom but I am an adult now. Please just-"
"Go." Mom stated while pointing her finger towards the front door.
"What?" I questioned
"I said leave. Go. If you're an adult now you can go back to the house you own."
I was shocked that she actually said that. I do own a house, but I like it here. I ran upstairs, grabbed my phone, keys, phone charger, put on a jacket, and boots. While I was going down stairs I heard Mom talking with Dad. I was about to go out when I turned around and stormed over to them. I looked them both in the eyes.
"Is that what you guys were talking about a few nights ago? The thing that you need to tell Anna and me?" I asked with anger swelling up inside me
"No. We had no idea that Anna would be sick. Now please LEAVE BEFORE I HAVE TO CALL THE POLICE!" Mom shouted at me
"WHY WOULD YOU CALL THE POLICE ON YOUR OWN SON!" I screamed at them
I turned around and walked towards the door only to turn and face them one last time before I go.
"I HATE YOU!"
With that said, I went out and slammed the door. Snow fell on the ground and everything was blanketed in white. It looked pretty. I brought out gloves that were in my jacket pockets along with a beanie. I trudged through the snow and made my way to my mustang. Only, it wasn't there. In the place there was snow and something sticking out of it. I bent down and picked it up. It was a note from Mom saying that my mustang was in the shop. I groaned and continued walking. While I walked I saw kids building snowmen and making snow angels. Some of the older kids would run to me and ask for an autograph or a picture. I declined everyone that asked and told them I was sorry and I wasn't in the mood. Wind blew and made its way through my jacket, gloves and beanie. I'm better off frozen than alive. My house was all the way on the other side of town near the woods. So far I'm not even halfway there. No one was out paying anymore, I looked up at the sky, by the way the clouds were getting darker I could tell we were going to have a blizzard. I couldn't feel my feet anymore. Slowly, I moved my feet just to fall face first in the snow. I was tired, mad and to cold to get back up. I stared at the snow as it started to cover me. I don't know how long I laid there, all I knew is that I had ice on my face and I was numb all over. Then a ringing filled my ears and I saw a person standing above me, AnnaBeth. She reached down to me then I blacked out.
When I regained consciousness I was in a bed wearing plaid pajama bottoms and a comfy long sleeve shirt. Where am I? Just then, AnnaBeth walked in and smiled sweetly at me. She helped me sit up and handed me a cup of hot chocolate. It wasn't to hot or to cold so I drank the whole thing. I looked her in the eyes. She frowned.
"You could have died out there Adam. What were you thinking?" AnnaBeth said
"I don't know. I was mad at my parents and trying to get back to my house which is on the other side of town near the woods. "
She nodded her head.
"How long have I been out?" I asked her
AnnaBeth frowned again and pointed to the LED digital clock that was on the nightstand, it blinked 7:00pm. What?!
"What time was it when you found me?"
"It was around nine in the morning," AnnaBeth said while having me lay down. "I'll take you to your house tomorrow morning. You need your rest."
She tucked the covers around me and headed towards the door.
"Wait, AnnaBeth," I said. She stopped and looked at me, "How's Anna doing?"
AnnaBeth didn't answer. Instead she ignored the question, went out and turned the light off and closed the door. I stared out the window and saw more snow falling. The argument with Mom echoed in my head, she had called me a coward. She was right. I blinked and tears slid down my face. I made a list in my head about random things that came to mind:
1) Me and Anna are best friends since we were little
2) I remember things from when we were little to my age of fifteen
3) We went tree climbing a few years ago and she fell then we went a few days ago and did the exact same thing
4) Anna is dying because of me
5) Everything we have ever done so far in the present is my fault
6) I said I hated my parents
Then I fell asleep to a nightmare.........
