[Anna's POV]
I walked home. I was out in town. Today is my birthday. During the past few weeks Adam has been acting weird, he stays in his room more and talks with his younger self. The more he does it the more I wonder if something is wrong with him. I hope not. My feet lead me inside the house. I smile at Mrs. Young and ask about Adam. She frowns and relies that it's been the same. A sigh escapes my mouth. She gives me a hug. I hug her back and walk to Adam's room. I knocked. No answer. I knocked again. Still no answer. I frown and walk out to the kitchen to get some water. After I get water, I go into the den and sit on the couch and curl up in a ball. I'm upset. I miss Adam. The front door opens and I watch as Adam walks in the den, looks at me, and keeps on walking. I get up and follow him. He goes in his room and closes the door and locks it.
"ADAM! LET ME IN PLEASE!" I shouted at his bedroom door.
"NO!" He shouts back
"WHY?"
"BECAUSE! PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE, ANNA! I DON'T CARE IF IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!" He yells
I start crying and walk away. I hear Adam come out of his room and say
"Anna please I didn't mean it!"
I ignored him and ran out of the house. I didn't care where I ran to as long as I was away from Adam. It sounds mean but that's what I want right now. Alone time. I ran down into town, I glanced behind me and saw Adam a few feet away. My flight or fight kicked in and I ran faster and went into the woods. I ran up hills, down hills, through bushes. Through mud. I ran until I stopped and looked over the edge down into a twenty foot hole. I heard Adam behind me panting. I turned around.
"Adam don't come any closer," I begged.
He nodded his head and got down on one knee and brought out a small box. He opened it. I saw a ring. My hand went over my mouth.
"Anna Paige Emerson, will you marry me?" He asked
Tears sprung in my eyes.
"Adam I-" I was cut off from my feet falling over the edge.
I screamed. I caught a quick glance of Adam throwing the box down and diving for my hand. He caught it. My heart pounded in my chest. I made eye contact with Adam.
"Don't let go. Please," I pleaded with tears pouring down both our faces.
"I won't let go. I promise." He replies
I try to swing my other hand up but I end up loosing my grip with Adam's hand. Our finger tips touch and I end up falling. I heard Adam scream my name. I kept falling until I landed on my feet. Snap. My right leg broke. I sat on the ground and my right leg was bent in an odd angle. I looked up and saw the opening for the hole about twenty feet up.
"Anna!?" Adam yelled in a high pitched voice
I smiled.
"Adam, I like your high pitched voice!", I shouted in response. I heard Adam laugh," Hey Adam! I broke my leg when I fell. It hurts."
"Anna, trust me! I'll get you out of there," I heard him shout, "Anna, I love-"
His voice was cut off when dirt started falling. Oh no! No no no no! I looked around frantically for something for me to go under. Nothing. I was going to be buried alive! Dirt kept falling. Maybe I can climb out, I thought. I started. I got halfway up, then I went further. Adam had his hand out. I touched it. Then the dirt gave out and I fell backwards again. NO! This time I fell on my back. I was to tired to move. I put my arms over my face and closed my eyes. The pressure from it made me black out.
