-flitz-

I made my way up the ladder, being the second last.
It wasn't until I heard the gunshots that I stopped.

I looked down, Wes was laying on the ground among the blood and snow.
I began climbing down to get him when I noticed the gunman was slowly trudging towards Wes.
Given he was a distance away I began climbing faster towards Wes, being too slow I dropped off the ladder, falling ten feet before colliding with the snow at the bottom.

With a slight backache and hypothermia setting in, I wrapped my arms around Wes, dragging him to the ladder as I gripped it with more strength than I knew I had.

I pulled him over towards the hanging rope ladder, gripping it.
I didn't have enough strength to pull the both of us up.
I could barley hold on.

It was then another round was fired and the helicopter began to lift up off the ground.

It felt as if I was tearing in two, having to hold mine and Wes' weight along with holding actual Wes.

The gunman was right below us at this point, curious as to why he hadn't shot any bullets off into the sky I glanced down at him, over Wes.

I watched as he reloaded his gun.

Great, so I'm either going to slip into multiple pieces or get shot to death.
What a way to go...

"Flitz!" I heard my name being called.

I looked above me to see Shayne making his way down the elevator.

Yay, he came to die too?
How convenient.

He was just above me as he reached his arm down, just missing Wes.

My grip on the ladder was slipping as I leant out from the ladder.

Shayne climbed down a few steps til he was opposite me ok the ladder, he grabbed Wes' arm.
Feeling a great deal of pain relive from my back,
The sounds of gunfire boomed through the air as I agitated my grip.

Once I was steady, Shayne and I began pulling Wes' up.

Poorly and slowly, but we were still doing it.
All that was left now was to evade being shot.
