(A/N: I haven't gone through and edited this one yet, but I NEED to get to 7,000 reads! I need it badly! I usually wait a week or more to post more, but again, MORE reads! I need them. Don't question me. Comment! Vote! And as always, keep on reading!)
I've been in this cell 62 days, I know this because I make a tally mark on the wall with a rock I found. I make a tally every night before I go to bed.
I've gained a lot of weight but my dress still holds up quite well. I'm given food 3 times a day, every day. The door opens and the peacekeepers sets a plate on the table.
"Eat up." The voice is so familiar, I stand quickly and remove the peacekeeper's mask before he has time to stop me. It's Haymitch! I wrap my arms around him tightly but I can't find words to describe my feelings.
He presses my finger to my lips. "Shhh. Dont say anything." He says quietly.
I mouth the words "I missed you" and smile slightly. I couldn't even talk if I wanted to, my voice hasn't been used in so long and my throat is very dry.
Haymitch leaves for but a moment and comes back with a glass of water, I drink it in large gulps and my throat no longer feels dry. I cough a few times before I actually try to speak.
"I love you." My voice is hoarse but its clear what I said.
"I love you too. But I was here the whole time." he smiles.
"What?" I raise my eyebrows.
"I've been here almost every day... I've seen you two slowly grow..." he places his hands on my stomach.
"Why didn't you say anything? I've been missing you more than you can imagine! And you just bring food and leave me here...." I shake my head slightly.
"I brought you here to be safe." He strokes my cheek. I back away from him.
"YOU BROUGHT M-" He places his hand over my mouth.
"Quiet. I only brought you here to be safe. The games are over and a lot of people got out. Snow was furious so I figured everyone had to be safe." He takes his hand off my mouth.
"Then why am I in Snow's prison?"
"He doesn't know you're here.... He never comes down here and almost all the Peacekeepers are in the Districts."
Tears fall from my eyes. "I missed you so much..."
"Dont cry....please don't cry...." He pulls me into his arms. I lay my head on his chest.
"Snow left today to go to his bunker in District 5. You can stay in one of his guest rooms if you want..."
"Yes, please get me out of here."
He takes my hand and shows me up many flights of stairs. To my surprise the house isn't crawling with peacekeepers like I would suspect, but Haymitch did say they were in the districts. He shows me into one of the guest bedrooms and it's huge. The bed is luxurious and big enough for two. I smile and kiss Haymitch's cheek.
"I'm going to shower really quick."
I go into the large bathroom, the marble floor is cold on my feet and it sends a small chill through my body. I turn on the shower and adjust the temperature, I remove my wig letting my hair fall on my shoulders. I remove my dress, I realize there's a scale on the floor right next to the sink. I pull it away from the sink and stand on it.
I have to lean over slightly to see over my stomach, the little numbers appear, I can only stare at them in shock. I now weigh 146 pounds, I've gained 26 pounds in a little less than two months. I back away from the scale, I remove the rest of my clothing and get in the shower.
