Tyler was still angry at his so called 'friends' for being so secretive at lunchtime today. He was specially mad at his brother, because Tyler realized that Zack had lied to him. Zack had lied about not knowing who Jenna is, and not knowing if they dated. Tyler wondered why he had to lie about that. Thinking about what other lies he might've been told, he grabbed his things to leave the school once classes were done for the day.
"Tyler! Wait!" Josh jogged to keep up with Tyler.
Tyler stopped walking to turn around, Josh was slowing down as he got nearer. "Hello." Josh greeted.
"Are you gonna explain what's going on or not?"
"Uh, no."
"Then I don't want to talk to you." Tyler lied and turned back around, adjusting his small light blue backpack. He could talk to Josh all day if he could.
"I just wanted to know how you're doing." Josh walked by Tyler's side anyways.
"I'm fine."
"Have you remembered anything yet?"
"Not exactly."
Josh knows it's only been almost a month, but Josh hoped he would have remembered at least something. "Not exactly?" Josh wanted him to be more specific.
"No, nothing specific." Tyler said, still a bit frustrated with himself.
"Nothing at all?" Josh couldn't believe it.
"Just a few feelings I don't know where they're from." Tyler confessed.
"Like what?"
"Why so many questions?"
"I just care about you." Josh said sincerely. "I want to know how you're doing, or if you need help."
"Well, thanks. But I don't need help." Tyler forced a smile.
"Okay, cool." Josh accepted the fact that Tyler wasn't going to need any help from him. "But... what feelings?"
"They're hard to explain." Tyler said, even though he had explained it to the school councillor.
"I'll try to understand." All Josh wanted was for Tyler to talk to him.
Tyler rehearsed an explanation inside his head before opening his mouth to speak again. He told Josh exactly what he had described to Johnny. About his feelings of emptiness towards basketball, his non-existent feelings for Jenna, and deciding whether to take the basketball scholarship or not. There was only one thing Tyler didn't mention to him.
Josh knew why he didn't feel anything towards Jenna, for obvious reasons. He just didn't want to tell Tyler because he felt that his sexuality was something Tyler had to figure out by himself. Josh also knew Tyler had started to feel this way about basketball. Tyler had mentioned it that Christmas afternoon in the treehouse. Josh remembers Tyler saying he wanted to take a break from basketball to focus on music, and his dad not loving the idea. He felt that he just needed to point Tyler in the right direction.
