i remember when i first met you
you reminded me of the perfect shade of olive green and i'd smile at you from across the table
i liked that we had the same shoes but mine were white and yours were black
so i tried until i gave up and tried to move on
but i wasn't in love, i was in love with the idea of loving someone else
now i've hurt him and you too
green reminds you of someone you don't like
but green is everything good to me
the trees and grass i pass reminds me of you
and the green street signs remind me of you
and i can't shake your eyes and your smile from my head when i close my eyes
so i think it's time to forget my favorite shade of green even though it's all i want here with me
but my white shoes are too small for me now.
