The Nerd and The Bad Boy

    It was at lunchtime now and everyone was sitting with their friends eating lunch and chatting together. Shadow, who was by himself because he had no friends yet, sat alone at the back of the cafeteria. No one really cared or even noticed him at all. He took out his homemade bento box filled with white rice and blackened chicken and a side of vegetables. He then grabbed his chopsticks and clapped his hands together, thanks for the food. After that, he began eating quietly. Suddenly, he felt someone tap his table and looked up at the person, seeing a silvery hedgehog staring at him with a shy smile on his face. Shadow had to admit, this fellow was a cutie. "Um, hi...um, may I sit here with you? There are no other seats heh..." the hedgehog said. Shadow blushed a bit and nodded. The hedgehog then sat down in front of Shadow and continued to smile at him. "My name is Silver. Silver Aston Hedgehog. What's your name?" he asked softly. Shadow couldn't even find the words to say anything. No one... and he meant no one has ever spoken to him directly before. It felt new and scary.

"M-My name is Shadow. Shadow Dark Hedgehog...." Shadow replied after a good minute of thinking.

    Silver extended a hand towards Shadow and smiled ever so cutely. "Well, it's very nice to meet you Shadow!" he said. Shadow looked at his hand then back up at him. He shakily reached for Silver's hand and grasped it. Silver shook his hand a bit, then let go. Shadow pulled his hand back and looked at it carefully. He then smiled and clenched it tightly. He knew that this day will get even better and better. After a loud ringing from the belly, everyone was cleaning up their mess and began to head to class. Shadow finished the rest of his food and began packing it away in the handkerchief that it came from. Silver already threw his stuff away and waited patiently for Shadow. Shadow grabbed his things and stood up, looking up and seeing Silver, who stood in front of him, waiting. "Ready to go?" he asked. Shadow nodded and smiled, walking forward and past Silver, who followed after.

"So, what's your next class Shadow?" Silver asked as they made it Shadow's locker.

    Shadow unlocked his locker and out his bento in his backpack, then grabbed his gym clothes and turned to Silver. "I have gym class next..." he replied. Silver's eyes widened in shock. "Really?! That's my next class too! Let's walk there together!" he said as he grasped Shadow's hand in both of his. Shadow chuckled and nodded. He then closed and locked his locker and began walking with Silver to their class, chatting along the way. Once they made it to the gym, then had to go into the boy's locker room to change int their gym clothes. Not many people were there yet so they quickly picked a spot near the back and changed. After that, they walked out of the locker room and sat on the floor and waited patiently for class to start. Silver looked at Shadow and smiled. "Hey Shadow?" he asked. Shadow looked at him and smiled back. 

"Do you want to be friends?"

    Shadow's eyes widened but quickly softened and nodded. "I would love to be friends...My one and only friend..." he replied. Silver chuckled and waited quietly. All they could hear was the sounds of students walking in and their own breathing. Shadow sighed softly and looked up towards the ceiling.

His life was finally turning around for the better...
