I wake up the next morning and look over at Summer who's still sleeping. We were going to be split up sooner or later, I wouldn't have either of my siblings to love or protect. I grab a bag out of my wardrobe and stuff in some of Summer's favourite toys along with a few of my keepsakes. I grab the money I had been saving since I came into care to buy my own flat when I'm old enough but I needed it today. I got dressed in a pair of leggings, a t-shirt and hoodie and slipped on my converse before waking Summer. Summer got dressed into a similar outfit and I packed her a change of clothes.
We go downstairs and into the kitchen it was early so no one was up yet and I shoved a load of food into my bag.
"Where we going?" Summer asked a little confused by the situation.
"We're going on an adventure." I tell here and her face lights up as we walk over to the door, she's always loved the idea of adventures.
"Don't we have to wait for Mike or Gina?" Summer asks stopping at the door.
"This is a special trip. Mike's said it's ok as long as I call him." I lie.
We leave the house and walked to the bus stop. We got the bus across town and then walked to Henry's Care home.
"What's this place?" Summer asks as we walk up to the door.
"This is where Henry lives, he can't miss out on the big adventure." I tell her.
We knock on the door and the head care worker opens the door.
"You're Henry's sister aren't you? You know you can't come here without a care worker or social worker." He tells me.
"My little sister hasn't been able to see him since he moved. Please just give her 5 minutes so she knows he's ok." I plead and he agrees.
"I will have to inform your care worker about this." He tells me.
"We just wanted to take him to the park. Our care worker is there right now with a few others which is why he couldn't be here. He said I could bring them both back since I'm 16, I can ring him for you if you like." I tell him.
"Ok but this in no way means Henry is leaving with you." He tells me sternly. I take out my phone and dial Liam's number since I know Mike won't agree.
"Hi Mike, Yeah about that, Henry's Care worker wants to talk to you." I tell Liam who sounds very confused on the other end of the phone.
"Hi Mike...." The care worker starts and I listen tentatively as he talks down the phone asking all sorts of questions before handing me back the phone so I can say bye. I look hopefully up at the care worker.
"I will allow you to take Henry out just this once but only because you are over 16, your care workers are there and it's just round the corner." He tells me.
"He needs to be back in 2 hours and you need to call me if there are any problems or changes in where you are going. Oh and no sugar." He adds.
"Thank you so much, I'll tell Mike and obviously keep an eye on him." I reply hurrying along to Henry's room along with Summer.
"We're going to the park Henry." I tell him as I shove his toys and a change of clothes into a bag.
He looks up at me not quiet understanding but puts his hand in mine as we all leave. I take them both round the corner to the park and they both run off to play and my phone starts ringing. I look at the caller ID and notice it is Liam, I guess I owe him an explanation.
"Jess Why was I just pretending to Mike on the phone to Henry's care worker please tell me you didn't do something stupid." He asks me.
"I just took Summer to go and see him." I reply.
"Then why hasn't Mike or Gina got any idea where you are?" He questions.
"I just want to be with them on our own. Pls don't tell anyone we'll be back soon." I beg.
"Fine." He says hanging up the phone.
We must have been at the park for about an hour when I decided that we should probably go somewhere else because this is the first place they will come looking for us. It took me a while to convince them to leave the park but with the offer of McDonalds we eventually ended up leaving.
We walk into town which isn't far and then we get MapcDonalds and sit inside eating it but I keep getting bombarded with messages so I decided to turn my phone off. We eat our meals and then we walk around until we find another park which makes Henry and Summer happy and I just play on my phone until it starts getting darker. I hadn't really planned this far ahead so I have no idea what we we are going to do tonight.
