"Jess this is for you?" Tracy says bringing me a letter and then leaving the room.
I hold it in my hands, who could it be from? I nervously open up the envelope and unfold the handwritten letter. Crap! It's from my mum and she wants me to meet her today.
"14 Effeing years you ignored me and now I'm supposed to jump at the chance to see you well F Off." I curse angrily to myself as I rip the letter into pieces and chuck it in the bin.
I sit for a while angrily and then my mind starts to over think things, What if she's changed? What if she wants to make things right?
Suddenly I'm not so sure what I'm supposed to do. I go downstairs and wonder into the kitchen were Gina's making lunch.
"Did Tracy give you your letter?" She asks.
"Yeah actually I wanted to asks..."
"Can this wait till later" she says as a fight erupts in the garden and she runs off.
Sure. Right. Whatever. I walk away and see Mike in the entrance way by the door.
"Mike can I ask you something?" I ask.
"If it's quick, I'm taking Sapphire to look at flats." he says with an inpatient Sapphire standing at the door.
"It's fine, I'll ask Tracy." I say and he hurries out the door.
I go into the office only to notice Tracy on the phone. I swear there's never any time for you in this place. I wait in the office for a while but Tracy soon shoo's me away.
I run upstairs and start packing some stuff in a bag since no one was going to help me I was going to have to face her alone just to see if she had changed. I decided I'd only regret it if I didn't go.
"Running away are we?" Liam questioned from my bedroom doorway.
"like I would tell you if I was." I reply leaving the room.
"So where you going to go, sleep on the streets?" He then questions.
"Just leave me alone. I swear your half the reason I'm going." I say harshly as I run down the stairs and out of the door.
I run for the bus that takes me into town where I'm meeting mum in a little café.
"Jessica" mum says excitedly as she comes over to the table I'm sat at.
We cuddle and I have to say it's slightly awkward although she doesn't seem to notice.
"I want you to come and see my new house. See what you think." She says. I'm reluctant at first but she manages to convince me. We pull up outside this grand house that mum could never afford to pay for but I don't question it since I don't want to ruin the afternoon. We go inside and sit in the living room which is pristine with all white furniture.
"wow it looks amazing." I say looking around.
"Come upstairs and look at the bedrooms. You and summer won't have to share anymore." She tells me.
"What?" I question very loudly.
"You want to come home don't you out of that manky care home. I thought this could be your room." mum tells me showing me a large room.
"look mum I'm not sure about this you have to talk to are care-workers." I tell her.
"I know you've been away from here a long time. How about you stay tonight and If you like it we'll talk to them in the morning." She tells me.
I'm a little apprehensive to say the least and I'm about to decline the offer when mum pipes up again.
"They won't even notice you've gone. It's one night." She tells me.
She's probably right and it is only one night so what's the worst that can happen?
We sit around talking for a while and have dinner before someone walks through the door.
"Hi Babe" He calls into the living room but he stops when he sees me.
"Who's that?" he questions.
"This Jessica." Mum replies and I just smile nervously.
"Ah Nice to meet you, your mum talks about you all the time." He says warmly and I smile back at the strange man standing there.
"Dinners on the table." mum tells him and he walks through to the kitchen.
"Mum who's that?" I ask.
"That's Chris, My fiancé. He's a sales director makes millions." She tells me and I now understand the house.
We sit around talking for a while before I head upstairs to bed which is a weird feeling. I lay on the bed and take out my pone to see a lot of missed calls from Tracy, Mike and Carmen. I delete them all and pull out my tablet and start watching netflix. About midnight I receive a voice mail and I decided to listen to it.
'Jess look I'm sorry about everything Ok, Grassing you up, seeing Henry, everything I said. but I'm worried about you, where are you? Mike's transferring me to another care home on Monday so just come home.'
'I'll be back in the morning.' is all I write before drifting off too sleep.
