It's the next morning and me and summer are going to visit Henry with Mike. I go into Henry's room to grab the presents I hid in there for Summer and Henry. I see a present sitting on his bed with the same note from 'Santa' although I now think it's from Mike. I bundle the presents into a bag and take a colouring book and pencils in case Summer gets bored. I then go back into my room pulling on my jacket.
"Special delivery." Liam says handing Summer a present.
I raise an eyebrow and look at them both a little confused.
"It's for you." Liam tells me
"It's from me and Henry, it was Liam's idea but I chose it." Summer informs me and I can't help but smile.
"How about I open it with Henry, there may just be a present each for you in here." I say hitting my backpack.
"yay." She says hugging me tightly.
"Right go and get your shoes and coat and find mike. I'll be down in a minute." I say as she runs off.
"Thanks." I say to Liam who's still stood in my room.
I go down stairs and find Mike and Summer stood by the door waiting for me. I slip on a pair of shoes and grab my coat before we go out to the car.
We arrive a short while later at Henry's care home and get out of the car quickly go inside since it was cold. One of the care workers shows us to Henry's room although we already know where we are going.
He's sat on the floor tucking into the obligatory state selection box he would have got yesterday morning.
"2 minutes I left you alone with that chocolate." The care worker laughs taking the rest of it away since he'd eaten nearly half the box.
"He's always been the same." I laugh opening up my backpack.
"Look, I brought presents." I say placing the two presents in front of him.
He looks up noticing Summer hasn't got one yet and hands her one of his.
"There both for you, look this one is Summers and this ones mine." I tell him handing Summer a present and holding one myself.
Henry opens his first present which is from me and looks at it for a few seconds before handing back to me.
"You want me to open it?" I ask taking hold of it and let's go.
I open the packaging and take out the cars and racetrack and set them on the floor next to us. Henry plays happily as me and summer both open our presents. I got summer a couple of dolls which she immediately starts ripping out of the box. I manage to grab Henry's attention for long enough to open the present from 'Santa' which is one of those little lava lamps and as I plug it in he's sat in front of it.
My present is a small bracelet with 3 charms, A Tree, A Car and A sun.
"The Sun is for me, The car is Henry and the Tree is Elm tree house." Summer explains still playing with her dolls.
"Ah I love it Summer." I reply fastening it around my wrist.
After a while a Care worker comes in and shows us into the garden since we wanted to get some fresh air. The pavement/playground has a slight hill too it and Henry takes great delight in watching the ball roll down the hill and then going to get It and starting again. Whilst Mike entertains Summer kicking a ball around on the grass.
We leave not long later and Henry gets upset which ends up upsetting Summer and so I pick her up. We drive back to the dumping ground and I make my way into the Quiet room. It had become routine after visiting Henry, I just needed some time alone.
"You alright?" mike asks coming in and sitting next to me a little while later.
"Yeah, just drawing." I say going to put the pad away but Mike's already got hold of it.
"It's not like that there, you know he misses you of course but they have fun like we do." Mike says gesturing towards my most recent sketch of Henry behind bars.
"I know, it just feels like that sometimes when we have to leave him." I reply.
Mike goes to get me a drink and when he comes back a few minutes later I'm sat fiddling with the necklace I got yesterday.
"I didn't know if you would want Jess or Jessica. I thought Jess would be better since you seem to hate your full name but we can get it changed if you prefer." Mike tells me looking a little nervous.
"No, I love it thanks Mike." I smile back at him.
"Good, Henry seemed happy too." He replies.
"Yeah."
