Ares Pov
I laughed at Adonis trying to keep up with then twins' new dog. The kids are now 13. Zeus is 17. I feel old as hell now, but I'm in my 30s.
The phone rings. I answer to the unknown caller.
"Hello?"
Silence.
"Hello?"
More silence.
"I'm not playing games. Who is this?"
"Your worst nightmare." The person hangs up.
"Who was that baby?" Adonis says with the Sheppard caught.
"Prank caller."
I've been getting weird calls like that a lot lately and a nigga ain't feeling that. It might be Zeus' friends.
Speaking of Zeus, I love my son but lately we ain't been seeing eye to eye. I remember when he was about ye height and wanted to play. I miss when he thought we were superheroes. I guess even dreams have to die.
Zeus is so independent and always in his room. I feel like we should bond more. Especially since he's gonna be 18 soon.
The twins, however, will be 14 in about three months. Aj and Amber are growing into themselves a lot lately. They'll be freshmen soon and Zeus is graduating is a few months.
I can't believe it. Adonis just turned 32. She looks as good as ever. She matured a lot over the years and I love her for it. I've loved her from the moment I met her. I'd do anything for this family.
When I learned how to walk again after beating the odds, I've been with my prosthetic legs. It's difficult at times, but I was determined not to raise my kids from a wheelchair.
Zeus walks in.
"Hey Zeus!" Adonis says.
He looks at her and nods. He heads straight to his room.
"Wassup, Z?" I say.
He throws a hand up then closes the door.
I put my head in my hands. Adonis rubs my back.
I don't know where it all went wrong man.
