Zeus' Pov

The next day I fell asleep again in class.

C nudges me. "Wake up, Jayla gave me this for you."

He passes me a note. Your brother and sister are so cuteeee.

I smile at her. I unintentionally lick my lips. Should I play it cool? My dad used to tell me to be smooth. Smooth as butter. I write and pass it to her.

How about their big brother?

He's cute too...not as cute as them lol

I hold the note. This could be my chance.

Maybe she'll won't realize how lame the party will be. I really wish it was at Dave and Busters or something. I sigh and put my hair in a man bun. I throw my hoodie on, smile at Jayla, lick my lips, rub my stubby chin and go to sleep.

In Zeus' Dream:

I'm running, running for no reason. I'm free.

In the forest, snagging branches, tripping over roots, sticking my hands with thorns, I'm free.

Over train tracks, bridges, and roads, I feel like Forrest Gump. I'm free.

I swim across ponds, lakes, and rivers. I'm free.

I chase graffiti down a wall, doing flips off buildings, racing cars. I'm free.

I don't know what I'm running from , but I'm free.

I trip and land on my back. I'm afraid that whatever I'm running from will catch up to me. I'm free.

I look up and see that the thing I'm running from is ... me.

I wake up and see a test is on my desk. It's a C-. I crumble the paper up. I've already applied to my colleges so I don't really care about what I make now. I yawn.

I really don't know what I want for my birthday. I wouldn't mind going to a concert or something. I never thought about what I wanted ... never knew what I needed. I just want to get away.

I would say I have a learning disorder, but I'm a straight A/B student. I fall asleep in class for no reason. Probably a coping mechanism. I sleep all night or whenever I'm not up thinking. I just sleep to escape half of the time. The teacher gives me a disappointed look and I groan. I hate my life.

When I get home, things seem so odd and out of place. I get a bad feeling about it.

"Yo, Pops?"

No answer.

"Adonis?"

Silence.

"Aj?" I jog up the stairs.

Silence.

"Amber?"

I get blindfolded and clocked. The world goes black. When I come to, I hear voices.

"Nice going Aj."

"Shut up , Amber. You jumped on him."

"Yeah, but you clocked him!"

I groan. "What the hell is going on?" I rub my temples.

"We wanted to surprise you!" Amber says.

"It went AWOL. We just wanted to let you know how much we love you man."

I looked at them.

Amber was staring at her phone then looked at me. "We also know you barely have time for us lately and we wanted to spend time with you before you graduate. We want to play games or something ... or help plan your graduation party."

I stare at them both. Dumbasses.

"Fine."

"So...are your friends coming Saturday?" Amber said.

I get up and go get my Arizona. "Yeah , why?"

She smiles and walks off.

I shrug. This is going to be a long week.
