I was so glad that it was last period but we had Computer Science and Mrs Milton made what was an hour seem like a millennium. The end of school bell rang and we were let out of class. When I got to the entrance of the school and it started raining so I had to run back to my locker to get my umbrella. By the time I got to the entrance everyone had already gone home. I was almost at the school gate when someone pulled me back by my collar and slammed me against the nearest wall. Pain seared trough my back as I fell to the ground. I looked up to see who it was but I couldn't really make out a face.

Suddenly five figures emerged out of nowhere and started hitting me with a barrage of attacks to my head, stomach, legs and back. I wished they would stop but I guess today wasn't my lucky day after all. The beatings continued until one person who seemed to be standing back using my umbrella to protect herself from the rain yelled at them to stop.

I knew that voice, it was Amber and I felt really stupid for not realising it earlier (but don't blame me it's really hard to put 2 and 2 together when your faced is being kicked in).

"I'm sure you've learned your lesson," she sneered "Make sure you stay in your place DOG."

She walked away with her posse following closely behind. I tried to get up but my attempt came to an abrupt halt when a jolt of pain shot through my body like I had been struck by lightning, so I decided to lay there and wait until the pain went down a little. Finally I got up and dragged my sorry ass home. I got home cold, drenched and in pain.

"TAYLOR!" my Mum yelled her voiced dripping with worry

"Who did this to you?" Devon asked with a hint of anger in his tone

"No-one did it, when it started raining I went to go and get my umbrella and slipped down the stairs and when I was walking home my umbrella blew into the road and a car ran in over," I said exhausted

"Is that what really happened?" my Dad asked sternly

"Yes," I said, not wanting to explain what actually happened. It would turn into the long dragged out case and I'm tired enough as it is.

"Can I go and change now?" I said and walked up the stairs.

I had shower got changed and went to bed without saying a word to anyone, some birthday this turned out to be.

I woke up and looked at my alarm clock, it was 10:30am. School had started two hours and thirty minutes ago. Ignoring the pain I rushed downstairs to find out why mother-or my alarm for that matter- didn't wake me up. When I got to the last flight of stairs I actually fell down them. Well I guess this was karma's way of telling me that I should have told the truth. I lay there at the bottom of the stairs groaning in pain. When I had decided that I had spent enough time on the floor I made my way into the kitchen to find a note on the table from my mum:

' Taylor I called your school to say you won't be coming in because you're sick, your brothers have gone to school. Dad and I are at work so make sure you make yourself something to eat and don't say there's nothing to eat there's plenty of food in the house.

Love Mum xx'

I didn't want to eat anything so I curled up on the sofa and contemplated whether or not I should take my own life. I was alone so there was no chance of anyone finding me before the last drop of my life drained out of my body. The journey upstairs to get my razor from where I had hid it was tedious but I did it anyway. I slid it over my wrist but there was a knock on the door before I could cut deep enough.

"Urgh." I groaned

I discarded the slightly blood razor and answered the door. There stood Hayden and Ky, their eyes wide with worry as they started at my bruised body and bloodied wrist.
