Ch2 ~ First Confrontation

---------------------------

I don't come across him all day long till the one class we have in common with him. English.

That's the only time when he's. In a closed room with me, and twenty five other hormonal teenagers.

He can't really avoid it. If he could've then he would have definitely avoided it.

But thank the good lords above, I share the class with Nat also.

Again I seat myself at the desk at the back of the class and wait for Nat to come in. After a minute or two she comes to the class and slides onto the seat beside me.

"Hey." She says settling her books upon the table.

"Hi. How was your day?"

"Seriously?" She snorts."I am the one who should be asking you that. And I am really sorry that I couldn't give you company during lunch because I got held up as Mr. Dolores had to choose this day to lecture me about my dropping grades in anatomy."

"It's okay. I hid in the library."

"And why did you do that?"

I look her in the eye. "You know why."

She sighs and shrugs.

Ms. McCarley enters the class and greets everyone. She is a really sweet teacher. The kind everyone starts taking for granted because of their politeness. But she has always helped me and I respect her for that.

"Can we get a free period, please." Did I forget to mention that Stella is in this class?

"On what occasion Stella?"

"Well. It is my boyfriend's birthday."

A few people wish him then and he just looks around with a smile.

"I wouldn't give you a free period even if your boyfriend was the President himself." Everyone giggles, excluding me and Nat.

And one laugh stands out to my senses amongst all the others. It's like music to my ears. It's the laugh that I was used to hearing at every lame attempt I made at a joke. The one that I had heard so many times that it was imprinted in my mind.

But I try my level best to not look in his direction.

"So, until and unless we have any more problems or requests let us start the class." Ms. McCarley says and then adds." Happy Birthday Aaron."

Every one could wish him. That is excluding me.

And in that moment I had this inexplicable urge to talk to him but since I couldn't really do anything about it, I try to listen to what Ms. McCarley is teaching.

Somewhere in the middle of the class, Nat nudged me with her elbow. I looked at her." What?"

"He's been staring at you since the class started." And when I hear those words, my stomach does a three sixty degree turn, my heart starts to race and blood rushes to my face. And if I wouldn't have been in this class I would probably have gasped for air loudly since it was getting hard to breathe.

But then she looks at that guy from the morning and suddenly it felt like someone had punched me in the gut and my face fell.

I had thought that she had been talking about Aaron. But I compose myself before Nat looks at me and plaster a smile on my face. "Who is looking at me?" I ask her.

"That guy." She looked at him. "I think his name is Noah. He joined our school this year only. I think he totally has a crush on you." She winks.

"I spoke to him this morning. More like he spoke to me."

"Really?" She asks me in an excited whisper.

I nod. "I bet ten bucks that he's going to ask you out in a weeks time."

Her confidence makes my stomach flutter.

"You think so?"

"I know so." She grins.

I don't know why but a blush creeps on to my cheeks and just then the bell rings indicating the end of today's school.

I start gathering my books. "And you know what it's high time you get over Aaron." Nat adds. "Because truthfully speaking, he's clearly over your friendship. I mean he barely ever acknowledges your presence."

Then as an after thought she adds."Actually he never does."

I finally look towards Aaron. He's heading out of the class with his arm around Stella.

"And you deserve better. A lot better. Better than him" she points at Aaron and I slap her hand down.

What she said gives me enough reasons to think about getting over Aaron. Or at least trying to.

It's all I'll be thinking about over the weekend.
