Hey, lovelies!
I'm so sorry, but I seem to have come to a bit of a block with this story. I know it'll come back to me and I have a lot of plans for it. It just might be another week before an update. I'm so, so sorry and I hope you can understand.
I can't believe this story has over 500 reads!!!! I'm so happy I could cry hahaha. Thank you all so much for reading!!
As a little apology, here is a small part from a new story I'm working on. It's a fantasy that doesn't really have much to it yet as it's still in the thinking stages but I just HAD to sit and write down some. I hope you enjoy it and I would absolutely love to know what you think about this or Feels Like The First Time. Love yus xxx
Prologue
The twilight shadows merged with those of two lone figures gathered by a small fire, distorting the darkening night with their movements. A curious fox moved closer to the pair, sniffing occasionally at the air every few steps, tempted by the warmth of the fire and the smell of fresh meat. The largest of the figures turned, human eyes locking onto the fox which froze before scurrying to catch the scrap of meat that had been thrown by the figure.
"He'll follow us now," The smallest figure grumbled with a mouth full of food. The larger figure turned back to the smaller with a shrug. The pair sat in silence as they finished the rest of their food, a stew made from a pair of rabbits the larger had caught earlier. When both were finished the larger took the plate and spoon from the smaller to wash in the creek nearby before roughly shoving both sets in a pack. The smaller made a soft noise making the larger turn to watch.
"You told him?" The larger figure asked. The smaller continued to stare at the fire for a moment then turned to survey the larger.
"He already knew. I still can't figure out if I love that about him or not." Replied the smaller with an easy smirk.
"I think we both know the answer to that," both laughed at the larger's statement, falling back into a comfortable silence as they both became lost in their own thoughts.
"Mira," The larger figure looked to the smaller at the name. "Do you think we'll ever be able to settle down?"
"I don't know, Bree." Mira replied. The smaller figure frowned at the use of the name that Mira only used when things were serious. "Is that really what you want?"
"Maybe," Bree mumbled in thought. "I'd like the option at least." Mira laughed at this, knowing that the smaller figure wasn't really as fed up with their lifestyle as it sounded.
"It'll be a while yet before you can. I get the feeling that things will get worse before they get better. We have a long road ahead of us."
Chapter One
Zuri tapped his foot against the floor in a sharp staccato which ironically only added to his anxiety. His eyes, pools of melted chocolate, were fixed on the floor in the centre of the room where an intricate mosaic of a spiral shone. Thick lashes fluttered down to stop his eyes becoming dry from staring at the spot, effectively breaking him out of his trance. With a deep breath, Zuri turned his head to the large wooden doors at his back that blocked the way to his long awaited future. He had no idea what was happening on the other side, or what to expect when he finally saw beyond them but he couldn't contain the butterfly smile that shot across his face at the thought.
A sharp light illuminated the room, causing his shadow to be cast against the door, so that, for a moment, Zuri saw himself as he waited for his life to start. Shaking his head, causing a stray strand of coal black hair to fall slightly out of place, he turned back to look at the centre of the room. He couldn't stop his jaw from dropping at the two figures now there as his breath caught in his throat. One was small with short honey coloured hair that flew around her face as if frozen by a breeze. Her large eyes narrowed on Zuri in assessment, glowing amber surrounded by a ring of brick red. Although, her face seemed suspicious of Zuri, her tiny body was leant slightly forward onto the balls of her feet as if at any moment she would fly off like the breeze that froze her hair. Zuri's eyes skipped to the larger figure of a woman with curves that promised a night of passion. Even her hair and features curved deliciously, black curls that framed a face with pillowy lips and forest green, almond eyes. But those eyes held a knowledge that Zuri recognised deep within himself, a recognition that sent a jolt through him, pushing him forward toward the two women.
