The "Game" | Chapter 4

"It's not! I promise! The game I brought was... Well, it's not really a game. I brought an Ouija Board!" Red said.

"Hell no!" I yelled.

"Come on Cathrine! It'll be fun!" somebody said.

"Ya! Cath! Come on!" Max said.

"First off, don't call me 'Cath'. And I'll do it, but if we get a demon, I'm killing Red."

"I'll take my chances," said Red. Then everyone laughed.

"Okay let's do this! We need 3 candles and a bottle of water."

"What's the water for?" 

"It's for Holy Water. We can pray over it, and if we get a demon we say goodbye and poor the Holy Water over it." We set up the board and everyone placed two fingers on the planchette and circled the board once for every person playing. Red ask if anyone was there. 

"Is anyone there?"

YES

"What is your name?"

A-L-E-X

"Shit." I said, "What's your last name?"

K-I-M-B-E-R-L-I-N

I froze up. "Catherine? Are you okay?" somebody asked. I didn't answer. I started to tear up. "Do you know Alex?" someone else asked.

"H-he was... my... older b-brother." I stuttered. Everyone had shocked faces.

"Alex, what is so urgent?"

"What about mother and father? He was arrested and she has never been seen again!"

Then, the candles went out. Before they said 'Goodbye' I said, "Alex, I love you."

Then we said goodbye. I started to cry. Just cry. I didn't answer anyone. "Why did your dad go to jail?" "How did your brother die?" "Are you okay?" "What did you mean 'she was never seen again'?"

Max, Shelby, and Alesa were the only people not asking me questions. Shelby and Alesa told everyone to leave me alone and to give me some space. After I calmed down they all apologized and put the board away.  

I told everyone that I would tell them what happened when I was ready. The all said okay and we began with another game. Shelby requested Truth or Dare. We all sat in a circle and Shelby started off. "Hmmmm who should I ask? Ross! Truth or Dare?!"

Ross took a while and answered with "Truth."

"Do you enjoy being my cousin?"

"Shelby, you already know the answer to that. The answer is no." Ross said jokingly.

"Hey!!!!" Shelby screamed. Then everyone laughed. Then it was Ross' turn. Soon everyone got a turn and now Adam was up. "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAXXXXXX!!!!! Truth or Dare?"

"Adam you are paying for my eardrum surgery and dare."

"I dare you....."
