Chapter 7
During the car ride back home I sent a quick text to Bella saying I wouldn’t be in for the rest of the day and telling her that she would get details later. After that I rested my head against the cool window as the meds started to kick in. I became increasingly aware of the blurring shapes as my eyes began to droop close and I drifted into the kaleidoscope of colours behind my eye lids. The shapes and colours goading me into a deep sleep.

Someone was prodding me. And it was annoying. Annoying as hell. I wanted nothing more than to stay asleep. If the person on the other end of that podgy pointy finger didn’t get the hell off me right now I was not gonna be a happy bunny.

I groaned and swung my arm, aimlessly trying to swat the incessant hand away, eyes still shut tight.
“Adonnia.”
I took another swing.
“Adonnia, we’re home, now wake that lazy ass of yours up.”
I groaned again. “Nooooooo sleepy.” I drawled.
I turned away from the voice and curled into a ball on the seat, snuggling down to go back to sleep again.
“Right then.” I heard Xavier sigh and then a second later his arms were around my waist and I was sliding backwards out the car door.
I squealed. That had woken me up. He swung me up in the air and replaced me on his should in a fireman’s lift like I weighed nothing more than a feather, dangling me over his back like a rag doll.
Now that my eyes were awake it was hard not to notice the nice view of his toned butt that I was given and I had to scold myself for even looking. This was Xavier, annoying prince boy. I regained my senses and started to pound him on the back with my fists.
“Put me down!” I shouted at him annoyed. Seriously did he not get the picture? God gave us legs for a reason, jeesh, why wouldn’t the annoying boy just let me walk for myself.
“You asked for it Addybaby.” He said slapping my ass lightly. My cheeks flamed at his action and I was glad he couldn’t see my face.
“You know I’m pretty sure that this position ain't too good for my head.”
I heard Xavier curse under his breath and then he gently spun me around placing me back on my feet. Wow, that didn’t take much convincing, next time he lifts me, mention hurt, he puts me down, everything’s great –point duly noted. He bent his head to my level looking into my eyes, concern pooling in his own.
“Are you ok? Is your head ok?” I giggled at the worry plastered on his face.
“Yeah, its fine, well it hurts a bit…. I guess. But at least you put me down.” I said pulling a tongue at him.
“You sure?” he looked slightly less worried now but he still hadn’t straightened up.
“Yes Xavier I’m fine.” I chuckled giving him a little shove. “And don’t call me Addybaby and stop picking me up!” I shouted as I ran off before he had chance to pick me up for the 3rd time in one day.
I sprinted off up the drive looking over my shoulder to see Xavier following me, swiftly catching up.
“I’m gonna get you.” He shouted in a creepy psycho voice.
I squealed and pushed my legs faster feeling the burn in my calves. I headed into the palace and tried my hardest not to slip or slide on the immaculate squeaky clean floor. As I rushed down corridor after corridor many maids and staff gave me funny looks but I didn’t care, I was only having fun for once. I burst through the kitchen doors to find the cook Maria, she was an expert in mischief, ways to make the prince embarrass himself etc. she smiled as I entered but I had no time for pleasantries.
“Quick Xavier’s coming; he’s going to get me!” I squealed at her.
She laughed and ordered me to run to the other end of the kitchen. Her hazel eyes were lit up with excitement and I watched on curiously trying to find out what trick was up her sleeve.
As Xavier burst through the door and made a beeline towards me, my eyes grew wide, was Maria going to help me? Just as he was about to get to me I saw Maria knock over a bottle of washing up liquid and watched as it oozed over the floor right in front of Xavier’s feet. The next minute he slipped on the green slime and fell –not so graciously might I add- to the ground. If it weren’t for the fall I would still have laughed at the shocked look on his face. Hi eyes were wide and his mouth open, staring up at me. I keeled over laughing, that was damn funny and before long I was almost on the floor too from laughing so hard. Through my laughter I could hear Maria chuckling to herself at her evilness and heard her dismissively say “woops” to an angry looking Xavier. I started a fresh bout of laughter and fell to the floor, my bum giving a thud as it hit the hard marble ground, though I didn’t stop laughing, all I could think of was his face as he suddenly found himself on his back.
Cold ooze trickled onto my head and I was suddenly brought out of my laughing fit. I frowned and brought my hand to my head feeling at the goo that I found there. I brought my hand away and stared blankly at the green mess on my fingers.
It clicked.
I jumped to my feet to see Xavier twirling a bottle of washing up liquid in his hand, a smirk plastered on his face. Oh it was on, this was war. I darted round the other side of the island and swooped up a second bottle of liquid and poised myself to squirt Xavier who was now poised and ready at the other side. We stood still staring each other down, who would make the first move? Who would be crowned captain intensity? I saw a glint pass through his chocolate eyes and made my decision. We both lunged the bottles forward at the same time, sending identical squirts hurtling toward one another. I ducked but he didn’t see mine coming and it hit him splat on the chest. I chuckled evily as the shocked look came over his face again.
A gasp was heard from behind me and I swung round to find Maria wiping goo off her face. I immediately turned the blame to Xavier.
“Xavier!” I gasped playing the innocent. “Look what you did.”
He glared at me. “Well if you hadn’t off ducked.” He protested.
“It’s called reflex. Ever tried it?” I laughed as I looked pointedly at his green covered shirt.
“At least I can aim better.” He replied childishly sticking his tongue out.
“Xavier!” Maria playfully scolded. “I was not your target!”
He looked sheepish. “Sorry?” he said, stating it more like a question.
Maria rolled her eyes. Get out, the pair of you.” She ushered us and our bottles out the French doors to the garden, discreetly placing an egg in my hand. I looked to her puzzled but all she gave me was a wink. I knew what do, I never missed a beat when it came to Maria, she was the motherly figure I got while I was around this place, (my own mother defiantly didn’t fit into that category) though she was a naughty mischiefious mother figure at that.
We both drooped are shoulders like naughty children found steeling from the cookie jar and made are way outside. Once clear from the the kitchen I reached up as tall as I could and smashed the egg down onto Xavier’s head. Before he could react I was running away again.
“That was from Maria by the bye!”
