Chapter 15
Walking through the door felt like entering into a tin of sardines. The mass amount of bodies was almost overwhelming. The loud music was at ear splitting volume and I could never have imagined it to be this bad. The down pour of red cups that happened outside seemed to continue on the inside, with every sardine swaying drunkenly to the music, red cup in hand. But none of these factors made me hesitate for a split second, not even the Pg 13 rated groping, instead I made a beeline for the alcohol table, picking up a red cup of my own. I knocked back the vile smelling liquid and almost spat it back out. It burned the back of my throat, however, I could already start to feel my senses numb, and so I picked up another and made my way into the crowd.
The people were drunker than you could tell from the distance and it was the reason I could so easily mingle, in my out of place attire, without being spotted as the ‘princess’.
I heard a high pitched scream coming from behind me. “ADONNIA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” Bella slurred slightly, though she was clearly still in control of herself.
I turned around and squealed. “BELLA!” I shouted back, squeezing her into a hug. “I LEFT THE BALL! IT WAS BORING!” I informed her, I’d fill her in with the real story later. I looked down to my second red cup, it was almost empty.
Dragging Bella with me I made my way into the kitchen. I picked up a red cup filled with brown liquid and downed it. It was as bad as the first one.
“What is this stuff? I asked Bella incredulously, the music was quieter in here so we could talk more easily.
“That’s vodka dearie. You’re such an alcohol virgin.” She said rolling her eyes. “And slow down, you don’t want to get off your head.”
“Maybe I do.” I replied mischievously. “Come on, let’s go dance!”
Dragging Bella back through the house we made it to the living room where floor space had been cleared as a makeshift dance floor. We started to sway our hips to the music as we danced with some of our other classmates. I let the excitement of the party wash away the embarrassment from the ball.
“So, where’s Mr hot socks?” Bella asked after a good hour of dancing. We were now stood in the kitchen getting refills.
I shrugged and what I hoped sounded like, “At the ball?” came out more like, “At zeee baaaaall?” I burst into a fit of giggles. The alcohol was clearly starting to have an effect on me.
There was a ruckus from behind Bella, some guys were coming into the kitchen pumping their fists in the air and chanting, “shots, shots, shots, shots!”
Small shot glasses were spread out on the counter and participants took their places. A crowd had formed, me and Bella right at the front of it.
“Oooh I love shots.” She exclaimed from beside me
“Right, first to down it wins!” Chad shouted, a guy from a different school, a hot guy from a different school might I add. “1, 2…3!”
All five boys downed their shots. Liam, a boy from my biology, did it the quickest and a triumphant smile lit up on his face, the crowd cheered. It was pathetic, all he did was down a bit of alcohol, hadn’t I been doing that all night? What would make it harder…..
“Body shots!” I squealed clapping my hands together in glee at my brilliant brainwave. Another burst of cheers was heard.
A pair of hands wrapped around my waste and started lifting me up onto the counter.
“whoa, hold up, I’m not the body, I wanna do the shots.” I pouted.
“If you think you can handle it sweet cheeks.” Chad said winking at me, his blonde-brown hair falling into his eyes.
I giggled like a flirty schoolgirl. “Of course I can.” Though really I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
I hand pulled me aside. “Are you sure you want to do this Adonnia have you not had enough to drink?” A worried Bella asked.
I brushed her off. “Bellaaaaaa I’m only having a little fun with Mr hot socks number two, chad, over there and you changed your tune didn’t you?”
“You’ve never had this much alcohol before Adonnia and I think you’ve had enough, you’ll end up doing something you regret.” She warned.
“I’m not a baaaaby Bella, I thin…..k I can handle it.” Though my actions stated otherwise as I nearly fell over on the spot. “Why don’t you ruuun along if youuuu can’t handle it.” I said, swatting her away like she was a fly,
She looked hurt, really hurt but my drunken brain couldn’t understand why.
“whatever your highness, it’s your life to ruin not mine.” She sneered before walking away.
I dismissed the feeling of my best and only friend and walked, or should I say wobbled, back over to the counter where chad had laid down with his shirt off. A lime was in his mouth and salt on his stomach.
“Ready Adonnia?” his deep voice asked, though I couldn’t help comparing it to Xavier’s silky smooth one.”
“yup.” I smiled.
After a couple of shots the crowd had cleared and it was only me, chad and a couple of others left in the kitchen.
I made a funny face as the lime’s bitter taste burst on my taste buds. I giggled once I was over it.
“One more time?” Chad asked seductively.
I nodded my head up and down, continuously bobbing it, momentarily forgetting how to stop. I burst in to more giggles and almost fell over. I hung onto the counter.
“Ready? GO!” chad shouted.
I squealed before downing the shot and then licking the salt. I then moved to the lime but it wasn’t there and instead his warm lips caught mine. Heat rose in me but there was no sparks or fireworks. I kissed him back anyway, feeling something inside me that I had never felt before.
“Want to take this elsewhere?” He whispered in my ear before kissing my neck.
“Mm hmm.” I mumbled. I knew this was wrong but in my drunken haze there was nothing I could do to stop myself.
We staggered into the hallway still locked in the lustful embrace. We made it slowly up the stairs and into an empty bedroom.
