Chapter 18
Waking up, all too familiar feelings of shame and guilt washed over me like a tidal wive as I was once again brought to reality after suprisingly blissful dreams, given the circumstances.
Gently lifting myself off the still sleeping Xavier, I quietly tiptoed to the bathroom. Pulling on some trousers and a hoodie to protect from the cool winds of the not yet risen sun I wandered out the patio door and steeped doen into the shallow waters, then started along the beach.
My hair flew about gently around me and the shore swirled by my feet. The quiet morning allowed me to contemplate the huge mistake I had made and the cool air helped to clear my head. With every step that my bare feet sunk into the white sand I came closer and closer to the resolution that what I had done was in the past. There was no going back to undo my mistake, as I had taken to calling it though it was more of a disaster, no matter how much I wished it. I may have tarnished my reputation as a worthy soon to be queen and given the rest of the 'royals' even more fuel to mock me with but in the end everyone makes mistakes and whats done is done. At least there was a silver liming, it would be a story to tell the grandkids. deciding to put it out of my mind as there was nothing to be done while I was at this exotic resosrt and feeling a little bit better I made a loop back to the hut to see if Xavier had awoken.
As I neared the hut a sweet and sugary aroma hit my nostrils, wafting out of the open patio doors. Entering the modern kitchen I was shocked to find Xavier leaning over the cooker, flipping something.
He cooked? Since when.
When he heard my padded footsteps he turned, a smirk on his face.
"Morning beautiful." he chirped.
I narrowed my eyes, suspicious of him. "hey..." I replied cautiously.
Walking over to make sure that he wasnt going to set the house on fire, I caught my reflection in the toaster. My hair was stuck up in all manner of directions, a big knotty mess on top of my head, a place where a bird could quite literally lay an egg. Thank you very much wind!
I gave out a small squeak and smoothed it down the best I could. When I saw that Xavier was laughing at me I hit his arm and moved behind him so he couldn't see the blush that had crept onto my face.
Quickly changing the topic away from my horrifying appearance I quizzed him about cooking.
"What are you making?' I asked sceptically.
"Pancakes and waffles." He simply replied.
"Well be careful not to burn them." I warned, frowning.
He chuckled. "I know how to cook waffles and pancakes Adonnia, in fact I know how to cook quite a lot. What can I say? My talents exceed me." he boasted arrogantly.
I scowled. Did he always have to be such an egotistical pig.
"You, know how to cook?" I asked still not believing him. He was an arrogant prince, what would he need with cooking?
He sighed, laughing. "Yes Adonnia. I. Can. Cook. Is that so hard for your tiny little brain to comprehend." He said tapping my head.
I swotted his hand away. "Hey my brain is not tiny! Just because your head is filled with air." I folded my arms across my chest and pouted.
"At least there is something in mine! With yours it's just nothing. A vacuum, if you will." He put on a smart arse voice and gestured with his hands like a know-it-all, his eyes glinting with mischief.
I screamed in frustration and plonked my self on one of the bar stools. "Serve up the damn pancakes then oh so mighty cook." I snarled.
He gave a bow. "Anything for you princess." He mocked before turning to serve up breakfast.
