Fabio's POV

Do you ever look in the mirror and question why you've been chosen to live this life?

The life that keeps you on your feet at all times. The same life that puts you in danger twenty-four hours per day.

The mafia life consumed me. It was my soul. My day, my night and everything more. I could never leave it behind, even if I tried but that wasn't a problem, it was something I learned to live with the second I was born into it. It was the only thing that mattered to me in my life because it raised me. Other than that, my family also mattered to me.

My brothers helped me through a lot, Dante and Tony. The only men I would do anything for just to keep them safe. They are my brothers, my blood and my family. When I claimed that I was born into the mafia world, I was actually born into the rough side of it. I was an orphaned child, as I was told but Dante's parents took me after finding me, they adopted me and ever since then, these people have become a huge part of my life. Tony was also in a similar position as me and so, Constantino, Dante's father took him as his own son as he did with me.

Although this life was bittersweet, it never fails to challenge me like today and a challenge like today was always going to end in a problem.

Hands buried in both pockets, I survey the venue while my Bluetooth was active in my ear. I was waiting for updates, news or anything at this point as I roam my gaze throughout the dimmed hall. There was a lot of people here but the one person I had my eyes on was not present yet. I was growing impatient at this point because it seemed impossible to find our target right now, everyone here was in a mask as this was a masquerade and it only made my task very difficult.

My eyes trains on Tony, who stood amongst the crowd and a second later, he made eye contact with me. When he did, I became anxious for a hot second because something about his glance did not sit right with me. I inclined my head and then Tony began to saunter towards me causally, to avoid anything suspicious because for all we know, we could be watched.

"What happened?" I mumble to him as we both stood beside each other,

"We have a problem. A huge problem."

"What?"

"Adriana is here."

For a second, my mind had become blank because I wasn't sure if I was hearing right. My eyes widened when realisation settled upon me on how much danger we could fall into right now. It was a risk, a huge risk. Adriana wasn't supposed to be here and if Dante finds out, we are all dead.

Adriana is Dante's wife, the two have been married very recently and should live this peaceful life but that wasn't the case, and ever since then, Dante is extra cautious with what goes around our family. The problem here was that Dante had instructed Adriana to return back to America a few hours ago, so how on Earth was she still here?

Panic flooded through me when I pull my hands out of my pocket and quickly throw Tony a glare. Although I couldn't see his face, his eyes gave it all up. They were filled with terror, regret and panic. This wasn't supposed to be like this, this could go wrong in many ways.

"What?" I ask in disbelief, "If Dante learns of this, we both are dead men. Go sort it out Tony before Dante re-"

Tony and I immediately crouched down when a loud gunshot interrupted not just us but the whole venue. A wave of panicked screamed ripped through the venue a second later before people began to rush towards the exit of the venue in a panic thinking that they would become a victim to the bullet that was just fired. My brows furrowed as I scrutinise the whole hall, hoping to find a face that I recognise and when I did, somewhat relief settled me because it felt as thought one third of my job here was completed.
