Annetta's POVTaking on Mario's shit advice has by far been the worst thing I have ever done. I never listen to anybody, not even my own mother but the fact that I listened to Mario was beyond me.
Need overwhelms me, the need to get the fuck out of here but it was impossible when Lorenzo was stuck by my side, with his hand on the small of my back.
"You really are beautiful hermosa, did you know that?" Lorenzo mused, we walk away from the crowd and the people and when we did, I glance at Leo who seemed concerned. "It's a shame your husband does not appreciate you."
"Well it's a shame you are not my husband." I retort sarcastically but for some reason, Lorenzo was amused, like he had been entertained by the idea. I glance at him for a second once we were away from the crowd, right now we were alone in a hallway, on our way to Destefano, hopefully. "I wasn't being serious, don't flatter yourself."
"Remember when I said that I would have you one day?" He asks. We stop walking once we reached a door. I pull away from Lorenzo and watch the door for a long second before I turn my gaze back to him. Lorenzo seemed optimistic as he waits for my reply to which I suddenly did remember. The day of my wedding day to Fabio, Lorenzo's words struck me and since then, I felt unsettled. "I'd like to think the day is almost here."
"Hmm, how chivalrous." I mock. I lick my lips, I lean closer to Lorenzo and stare deep into his eyes, teasing him. The excitement only pools his eyes when I reach for him, my fingers curls around his tie and I tug it gently to pull him closer to me. "Get me to my father, Lorenzo." I whisper, tilting my head back when he lurched forward for a kiss.
Lorenzo's stare turned sour, it seemed as though there was a huge change to his demeanour the moment he pulls away from me to realise that I did not share the same interests as him. While he remains a steady glare on me, he pushes the door open and waits for me to walk in. I smile up at him, teasing him further as my eyes trail to his crinkled tie.
I walk in to the room Lorenzo escorted me in, ready than I have ever been because I knew what's about to come down. It was inevitable. I stride in and as soon as I did, I was greeted by the one and only. Dressed in a suit, Destefano sits on an arm chair like he was waiting for someone. My eyes remain on him but I notice a man standing behind him, and several other men scattered across the room, but the man standing behind him seemed more of importance to me because I think I recognised him. His back was facing us therefore, I had no idea who he even was.
"Papà." I greet, my throat suddenly closes up as I trap a breath, suddenly I forgot how to breathe. He made me nervous because as soon as I called him, Destefano glares up at me, resentment clouding his judgment. He knew. He was angry and capable of doing anything right now. I could sense his irritation. I gulp and inhale a deep breath. "Pleased to see me?" I smile widely at him.
"You know," Destefano grunts, he stands up on his feet and watched me. "After what you done in Poland, I never thought I would see you again."
"What have I done in Poland? That was all your doing." I retort. Nothing seemed to lighten his mood when he strides towards me and glares right into my eyes. He was shaking, trembling with pure anger. His eyes were red and his nose twitched just like mine when I'd get heated.
"It's in your best interest not to be ignorant. You know me more than anyone in this room, what I am capable of after somebody pisses me off. Don't fuck with me Annetta." He grunts again.
"Okay," I sigh, "It's not my fault you thought I was deceiving you with a couple of brainless Polish men. I mean, come on Papà, Polish? Really?"
