Fabio's POV
Redemption.
Nobody offers that anymore because it is seen as a way out. Right now, it seemed as though it would've been a perfect moment to use it because it really felt like old times but, he didn't deserve it.
As we crowd the fucker who deceived us, I reminisced the past, to myself. Mario was always a part of us. He did things for us that we would never forget but after his treachery, it was nothing worthy. Nothing to note. He tried to destroy us, tarnish our name and make one less Lombardi walking on this earth happen, just like that. He willed to kill one of us, just for five seconds of feeling worthy. Validation, from another stupid motherfucker who did not deserve the title of a father. Mario fucked up the moment he pulled that trigger to hurt Dante, and now, his fate was in our hands.
This was our opportunity.
"Okay." A tired sigh penetrates my left ear and soon enough, I felt movement. I glance over and remember that Annetta was here with us, staring at Mario who was still unconscious, tied to the chair. "I'm going to head back home, I'd rather stay out of this part of the job. I'm tired. Dante, call me if anything happens." She announced and headed towards the exit, already dismissing us. Dante glares at me, indicating something and instantly, I follow her out.
"Annetta." I call her out. Her tall frame stalls when my deep voice reached her ears. Her brunette hair bounced and her chin points to me once she glanced over her shoulders. Slowly, my jaw clenched. The mere image of her agitated me but after what happened in Poland, everything just deteriorated. Every restriction I placed in between us was torn about, all the boundaries were overstepped and all fucking promises were broken. I still want to do more because what happened in Poland was not enough. I've yet to destroy her.
"What?" She rolls her eyes and waits impatiently for me to reply.
I feel my jaw clench and my fists roll into a ball. Hard. The next time I encounter that kind of attitude, I'm going to force her over my knee just so I could punish her.
"You cannot return to your apartment condo just yet." I state and as soon as I did, dread filled her face. It was replaced with that attitude she displayed that she thought would make me angry. If anything, it turned me the fuck on. Guilty. "Destefano May have noticed Mario's disappearance by now and will be looking for answers. The first person he would get his hands on is you."
As realisation settled on her face, Annetta pursed her lips and sighs nonchalantly. "You care because?" She questions, a glint of curiosity reached her eyes as she watches me.
"I don't." I frankly reveal, Annetta stares blankly at me. "Dante cares. Your death would fall on me and I do not want to deal with baggage."
"Baggage?" Annetta face morphed with extreme hilarity when she chortled, her voice begins to fade as she saunters towards the staircase. "I'm beginning to wonder if you have lost some of your brain cells Fabio." She laughs. When she reached the staircase, she lifts one leg up and placed her feet down on the first step, her long legs catching my eye. She stops and glanced over her shoulder to me, amusement laced her expression as she bites her lips. "I'm your wife remember? You should start respecting me, il mio amato marito."
As I train my eyes on her, I feel my jaw clenching because she managed to defy me, once again. It was intimidating but I knew I would always get ahead of her. But sometimes, I had my doubts because of her confidence. She was young, too young to even step into the world I am consumed in. The second she enters, she will die and it's one of the reasons I bound her to me with an alliance. Annetta climbs the stairs and soon, vanished from my sight. Silence lingered, the tapping of her shoes slowly fading until nothing. There was nothing more I wanted than to put Annetta in her place. There were many ways I could do that, but the perfect way doesn't seem to cross my mind yet.
