Annetta's POV

One, two, three, four, five....

Those were the seconds I was chanting to myself to bore me into sleep, but the only thing it made me do was toss and turn in bed. You'd think after what my night consisted of, I'd be sleeping like a baby throughout but it wasn't the case. It's been hours since Fabio left, I'd have also thought I would have slept on my emotions, think about Fabio's proposal after a good nights worth of sleep but it was impossible when you care about the people you love most.

I've reached a conclusion that my fascination towards Fabio has turned into something I've always avoided but it was inevitable. The way he is as I learned more about him just made me fall deeper and deeper, and my only problem is that I can't seem to admit it. I've read somewhere that preferences develop and then it turns into an obsession. I didn't get it but now that I have my own experience to reflect on it, I understand clearly. It's what I am with Fabio. I've learned that he was capable of caring and sharing emotions. However, the only problem was that I wasn't sure if he reciprocated the feelings, or if he was so sure to marry me because he wanted to mark me his.

This could be interpreted in many different ways but it's not worth it if Fabio's intentions were not the same as mine.

Counting those seconds only made me jump out of my bed instead of putting me to sleep. My feet tingle as soon as they reached the cold tiled floors. The affects of last night struck me, in between my legs as I move. I wince. I blink through the darkness of the night and wondered what time it may be but it didn't stop me from making my way to Fabio's room. I wanted to see that face again because I cannot seem to live without it. I wanted to be within his presence.

I traipse my way through the dark hallway, an ominous void fills the air as I reach closer to his room. Maybe it's because it was the middle of the night and I was the only one to be awake. My eyes studied his door as I reach closer, either he was fast asleep or he was not in there.

"Fabio." I whisper, placing my palm on the door and pushing it open. The room was cold and instantly, I just knew he was not in. I wondered, where he could be at this time of the night? Where could he possibly be?

I turn on my heel, waiting for something I wasn't sure about. Fabio was not going to appear out of nowhere if he wasn't even in the estate. It bothered me a little because I wanted to see him right now. Confused, I slowly back out of his room and close the door. Silence fills the air as I stand in front of his door, blinking into oblivion but then, my head swung to my left when I heard a car ignition roar to life and then, drive away as if somebody was trying to get away from something.

My feet felt like they were glued to the floor as I blink into oblivion. Although I had an idea of what might be happening right now, I didn't want to jump into conclusions. But then, my heart panicked. Something about this didn't feel right, nothing felt right.

I quickly make my way to the office, the door was unlocked when I arrived and immediately, I knew something was wrong. The second I entered, I felt ambushed because of the state of the office. Sheets of paper scattered across the desk, ready for any pair of eyes to see it. It was unusual because this room was the tidiest out of all room due to confidentiality, Dante was stern about it. Premonition took over as I quickly make my way to the desk and examine all the contents on it, I was hoping that I found something to justify my suspicions.

Fabio was definitely in here all night. The seat was warm, the room was used. I could just smell him here.

My eyes scan over the papers, it was all the contents of Lorenzo's drug ring. All of Tony's research that took him months to do, was all piled on the table. Then, my eyes caught something unusual. Something that didn't make sense.
