School the next day was terrible. I was tired all day and couldn't seem to focus on anything the teacher was saying. I just wanted to go back home, in my own room, and in my own bed. But I knew that wasn't gonna happen.
After school, I walked to Jessie's home slowly. My bag felt like a ton of weights on my back. Of course, the teachers decided to give us a lot of homework today.
Suddenly, I heard a car engine behind me and turned as a car pulled up next to me. A guy in a black ski mask jumped out and wrapped his arms around me, hoisting me off my feet. I screamed and thrashed around in the man's grip. I screamed as loud as I could, trying to draw some attention as the man dragged me to the trunk of the car.
"HELP! HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I screamed.
I was pushed into the trunk and the trunk was slammed down and locked from the outside. I banged my fist on the top of the trunk with tears pouring out of my eyes.
"HELP! HELP ME! LET ME OUT!" I screamed, crying hysterically.
I heard the car start up and felt it move. I banged on the top of the trunk harder. I looked around for some sort of button to push that would make the trunk open from the inside. This car didn't have it though. All I saw was complete darkness.
An idea hit me. I grabbed my backpack and started digging through it frantically. I could call Clint! Yes! He'd find me.
Then I remembered.
My parents took my phone when they threw me out.
I screamed in agony as more tears poured down my face. I was trapped. Whoever this person was...he was going to get away with it. By the time anyone found out I was missing, we would probably be out of the country. Or he would've killed me already. Or raped me. And this time...
Clint wasn't coming to my rescue...
~~~~~
Clint and William sat in a small motel room on separate beds. William was flipping through the television channels while Clint stared up at the ceiling. He was thinking about Lexi. He wondered if she was thinking about him right now. He wondered if they still had a chance. He loved her. He loved her so much. He hadn't loved anyone this much in his entire life. He needed her...
"You thinking about Lexi?" William asked.
"How'd you know?" Clint looked at him.
"You get this sparkle in your eye when you talk and think about her," William replied.
Clint sighed. "I feel terrible for what happened."
"Yeah. It sucks ass." William sighed. "My parents are dicks. Lexi didn't deserve to be thrown out." Suddenly, William's phone went off. "Speak of the devil. It's my mom." He answered the phone cautiously. "Hello?" Pause. "Why?" Pause and William went pale. "Lexi's what?!" Clint snapped his head towards him. "Okay. I'll be there soon." William hung up and jumped up.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Clint asked hurriedly.
"Lexi's missing!" William yelled, running out of the room.
Clint sprinted after him. They jumped into their car and sped to William's house. When they got there, they saw several police cars in front of the house. William and Clint exchanged horrified looks before jumping out and running inside. When they got in, they saw police officers looking all over their house. William saw his parents crying and Jessie sitting on the couch.
"Jessie!" William ran to her. "Where's Lexi?!"
Jessie stood up. "I don't know. She came to my house when she got tossed out. Yesterday, we went to school and she never came home. I looked everywhere she could possibly be, but she's nowhere to be found!"
William looked back at Clint whose face was pale. Clint sunk down into a chair and looked like he was about to vomit.
"Mom! Dad!" William ran to his parents who hugged him tightly. "Did they find anything?"
"Yeah. One thing." Mom handed William a bracelet Lexi always wore. "They found it on the side of the road." Mom started crying. "They think she was walking home from school when she went missing."
Clint walked over to them. "Is that all they found?"
"Yeah..." Dad nodded.
Suddenly, a tall man walked to the four of them. "We have an idea on what happened." They all looked at him. "I'm Detective Edwards and we believe that Lexi was kidnapped."
"Oh my God..." Mom cried harder.
"Do you know who by?" William asked.
"We have a suspect," Edwards said. "His name is Mike. Mike Hank. He was taken into custody for the attempted rape of Lexi. He somehow escaped just the other day and we haven't seen or heard from him since."
Clint suddenly fell to his knees and threw up. William started crying and put his head in his hands, gripping his hair tightly.
"You can find her, right?" Dad asked eagerly.
"We...We will do our best." Edwards said.
Clint squeezed his eyes shut and cried. William looked down at him and put a hand on his shoulder. Clint sobbed uncontrollably, making William cry harder. Clint was usually William's crutch. Seeing him like this made him feel hopeless.
"Please. Please find her." Mom sobbed before walking away.
The police continued investigating and Clint sat in a corner, staring at the ground. Tears were rolling down his cheeks silently. He suddenly stood up and walked to Lexi's room. He walked over to her desk and saw a journal. He picked it up, sat on her bed, and started reading through the pages slowly. As he read on, he saw his name a couple times.
"Clint Bradshaw came over again. He decided it would be funny to put a spider on my pillow right before I went to sleep. Haha. Fuck you too Clint."
Clint laughed sadly and continued flipping through the pages. At the last page, he saw his name written in a big heart in bubble letters. He couldn't help but smile and run his hand over the page slowly.
"I'm gonna find you, Lexi," Clint said softly. "I swear to God I'll find you..."
Clint stood up with the journal in his hands, walked out of the room, down the stairs, out of the house, and sat in his car. He tossed the journal onto the passenger seat and started driving.
He was gonna hold his own investigation...
