Alexander and John decided to be roommates after meeting their first year of college, Alexander wanted the night to himself to write, and John wanted to go out during the night. This worked out perfectly most of the time for them, so they both decided it would work out nicely if they'd room together in a dorm at their college. Alexander was never bothered and John got to meet all sorts of people at the parties that relieved all the stress of his school life.

Though Alex didn't like knowing his roommate went to strangers houses and got as high or drunk as he pleased with people that barely knew him, he still managed to make it home before late morning. As for John, he tried to take Alex out to just a few parties, but the guy preferred to be tucked up in the dorm writing, John never asked what he was writing, he never wanted to over step, Alex was very private about it, usually waiting for John to leave before writing even. Alex was very uptight, he looked down on getting high and letting loose, but he let John continue on doing it for it wasn't his life and he knew there was no way to stop John, and he knew this was John's way of coping, and he couldn't take that away from him. Somehow the two managed to get up for classes on time, though they never knew how. Alex was just about as sleep deprived as John, so they took turns sleeping in classes, while one would take notes, their professors had a big classes and never noticed the boys with their heads down, nor did they care though, if they failed it wasn't the professors problem. They left time to study still, setting aside partying and writing to make sure they passed. Alex came in on a full scholarship, and wasn't going throw away his shot by writing too much and letting his grades slip, as for John he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with life so he knew with a degree he could find something, eventually, but as Friday rolled around both of their worries washed away.

It was a Friday night, Alex sat on his bed, nothing but a desk lamp illuminating the dorm room. He had a journal out and he was quickly jotting down his ideas, grasping for all of them as he filled the paper. He filled a few pages, smiling lightly as he went, relaxed that he couldn't get every stuck in his mind written out on a few lines in ink. Soon his mind was flooded with so many thoughts he was slightly overwhelmed, irritated with not being able to focus and grasp his thoughts he tucked his Journal back into the desk drawer, and placed the pen in the little mug that sat there, it was one of Johns old mugs from his high school friend, on it were the words, "Best Daddy Ever." Alex heard the story so many times, about how his old friend, had accidentally thought John was his father and called him Dad, on accident, on multiple occasions, and with time it became one of those stupid nicknames. When his friend found out he was moving from South Carolina all the way to New York, he gave him the mug, so John would remember him. John never used the mug, but he let Alex put his pens and pencils in it, and it never failed to make either of them laugh. Alex slipped off his clothes and pulled on a pair of shorts, then turning off the lamp and crawling into his bed. It was no later than 2 am when Alex fell asleep.

John was out at another one of the Schuyler's party, they always had the best beers, and alcohol, and though Thomas Jefferson wasn't fond of John during school, or any other time, at night, Jefferson wanted someone to get high or drunk with, and John tended to occupy that spot. Thomas and John sat on the girls porch, tonight without a blunt, but instead a ton of alcohol, and they were both just rambling on drunk. John sat and laughed, downing a small shot, as Thomas muttered on about his friend James Madison. They had consumed a lot of mixtures of drinks, which was gonna suck tomorrow morning but for now John was making faces at a bird sitting in a tree. Thomas handed John a new beer and yelled, John was pretty sure he had yelled cheers, but he wasn't completely sure for his words had been slurred. John began to stand but instead fell onto the ground out of the seat he had been sitting on. Thomas grabbed his arm and lifted him up, "Come on J, lets go home."

They had stumbled down the street after saying goodbye to the Schuyler sisters, the dorms were only around the corner and they had done it so many times before. In these few moments they were friends, without cares in the world. They had made their way to John's door, Thomas giving John a slight hug, "Till next time."

"Till next time," John repeated. He watched as Jefferson walk down the hall towards his dorm. He put his keys into the lock and opened the door. After shutting the door John smiled goofily at Alex who had already been asleep, for once. He stripped to his underwear, grabbing basketball shorts, and crawling into bed, Alex's bed. He curled himself around Alex, holding him, as he slept. Soon John drifted to sleep, pressed against Alexander, the warmth was comforting.

Alexander had in fact waken up slightly, but still half asleep when John stumbled in. He was originally annoyed John had got in his bed, but as John wrapped his arms around him, he no longer cared that he had crawled into the wrong bed, just that he stayed there for the rest of the night with him.
