"What do you even mean, Thomas?" John asked tilting his head.
"We take you back to your place and see if you can talk to Alex," Thomas took a sip of the drink.
"He's probably asleep he always is when I get back," John sighed.
"Well what if I call him? He hates me so he will decline if he's awake," Thomas spoke, pulling his phone out of his back pocket.
"Why do you even have his number?" John asked curiously.
"We had a group project together a little while back," Thomas opened his contacts, selecting Alexanders then, selecting call. John leaned over listening carefully, the phone rung once, twice, three, and then it stopped, They both waited making sure it wouldn't ring again, Alex had in fact hung up.
"He's awake," John whispered," wait.. He's awake!"
John was interrupted as Thomas placed a hand firmly over his mouth, "Quiet down," he removed his hand.
John grabbed his phone from off the counter looking at the college students dancing and breaking things in the living room, seeing as Maria tried to escape the crowd before being dragged back in by a guy John couldn't identify, "Thomas I have to see him, please," he pouted, "Can we go before we are too drunk to walk home, I mean the drink wasn't heavy but still, please?"
"Fine, Lets J, I think we need to help Maria first, She doesn't seem to comfortable with Reynolds drooling over," Thomas motioned to Maria in her red shoulder-less long sleeved shirt and light ripped jeans as she was trying to push James away.
Without saying a word, John rushed towards Maria, "Maria, Thomas and I were about to leave, and I promised you I'd pick you a soda up at the Gas station, let's go," He looked to her eyes, they were filled with fear, he gave her a look and watched as it clicked together in her brain that he was trying to help her.
"Oh, yes, Goodbye James," she spoke slamming her shoe into his foot roughly before taking John's arm running off, Thomas following not to far behind. They laughed as James Reynolds cursed at them when they rushed out the door down the street.
Once they were to the end of the street Maria spoke finally, "Thank you John, thank you both," she smiled at the ground slightly, "I don't know how that would have turned out if you hadn't showed up. That guy is such a creep," she spoke her voice drifting away.
"Of course," John spoke, tripping slightly on the sidewalk from being slightly tipsy, "He's such an as-"
"What he means is, if you need us to help keep him away from you or teach him a lesson, we'd gladly help," Thomas interrupted.
"Do you mind walking with me to the dorms? I'd rather not walk alone after that," She said softly.
"We got you, come on, this way," John turned the corner wandering farther down the street.
They arrived to Maria's dorm, dropping her off and wishing her goodnight.
Thomas wandered with John up the stairs towards John's dorm, finally they arrived to the door, John sliding in the key and opening the door. There was Alexander, his hair messed up, his clothes loosely put on almost, a loose grin on his face, he looked up seeing John, at the door, "John you won't believe it, I met up with that waitress that I gave my number to and it went so well, like I feel gre-- who is that behind you John?" John realized Alexander had someone ended up drunk, his words slurred slightly, Alex hated alcohol, what had possessed him?
"Who? What? I don't know what your talking about?" John spoke trying to signal for Jefferson to run.
"Did you bring a girl home? Oh I'm so proud I'll just leave you two to it," He got up walking towards the door.
"No!" John yelped, "Stay here, we can uh go somewhere else."
"Let me see the fine lady at least," Alex smirked, stumbling towards the door.
"Please Alex, no," He spoke to late as Alex had slipped into the hallway, his jaw fallen open, and his eyes wide.
Alexander was speechless.
