I found myself on the bed, my mum was standing beside me , looking concerned. "You're awake." She said.
"Come sit with me , i have a lot of explaining to do. " Mom said as she patted on a seat next to the sofa. I sat down with my legs crouched.
"Layla...Your father wrote this letter before he died. He told me to give it to you when you're eighteen but i guess you've discovered the secret much earlier. " She said with a worried look.
"I studied at the same school with your father , we are colleagues. Your dad loves to explore and visit different places. He started to gain an interest in studying landscapes and caves. I still remember the first trip we went together, in Hawaii. I found out that i was pregnant in the hotel while he went to explore an ancient cave. I remembered that day , he was running back to the hotel telling me to leave as soon as possible because some spirits are going to kill him. I was very confused and i thought he was out of his mind. He then explained everything to me saying when he was venturing the cave, he found a glowing crystal stuck in one of the stones and he picked it up. He didn't know that the crystal was cursed and it contained great power that could destroy the world.
The crystal is a missing piece of an ancient puzzle. If someone found the missing piece and finish the puzzle,the world would end. Horrible things would happen.Your father was the only one who kept the missing piece of the puzzle.If the evil spirits found the missing piece and finished the puzzle, it's going to be a tragedy.
We quicky flew back to Texas and hid the crystal in a box with a locket necklace. Then i decided to tell him the news of the pregnancy. He looked really worried and he wrote a letter to tell our future child his last words. I remember the night when he was killed by some evil sprits. They were spirits of dead soldiers trying to find the last crystal for the puzzle. Your father told me to leave Texas for our safety. I took the box and flew to California. Trying to get away from the evil spirits. That day, i would never forget....it's when he was killed." Mom said with tears in her eyes.
"After you were born, i tried to keep the secret. I sent you to a new school trying to keep you safe....i knew this day would come. You would discover our biggest secret. You have to destroy the puzzle to save the world. To save our family. To break the curse. " She said.
"Dad....i..." I started to cry again. I knew Dad was only trying to protect me. I knew what i have to do. To break the curse and save my family.
