"Layla ! What are you doing down there ? "
I jumped as i heard mom's voice.

"Nothing ! " I bursted out the word without thinking.

I took the necklace, closed the box, and put it back under the wooden plank speedily. I ran back up the stairs without looking back. Just then, i bumped into someone. Oh gosh...this is going to be bad, real bad. I thought. I looked up and saw my mom , standing in front of me, with her arms crossed. Her choleric expression sends a chill down my spine. A sweat tricked down my cheek.

"What are you doing down there ? " Mom asked with one of her eyebrows raised.

"I...um...went to grab a... broom!" I lied.

"I thought i put the broom in the kitchen ! "

Oops... I thought. "What is that in your pocket ? " Mom asked as she pointed at the pocket of my jeans. I looked down and saw a corner of the letter sticking out. Dang it ! I stuffed the corner of my letter in my pocket and pretended nothing happened. Hoping that she wouldn't see what i'm doing.

"Really...it's nothing. It's only one of my old drawings. " I muttered.

"Oh yea? then let's find out. " She said as she tried to pull the paper out from my pocket. I struggled trying to avoid her grabbing the letter.

"Ah ha! " She said pulling the letter out from my pocket. Her face darkened as she looked at the piece of paper.

"It's time, " She said with a cold voice.
"You've already discovered the truth."

"Mom? You knew this all the time ? Why don't you ever tell me ! You know how dad died ? Why he was killed ? " I said with tears running down my cheeks.

"Honey....there is a lot of explaining to do. I'm sorry that i didn't tell you earlier. But this is your fate, you must face the dangers ahead of you. You have discovered the secret, and you're the only one that can stop it. " She said.

"Mom...I...."
I felt blood rushing to my head, i felt really dizzy. The last thing that i remembered was that i ran into my room, crying. Lying on the bed and falling into a deep sleep.
