The Battle Inside

Chapter 13

Avi POV

I started to doze off on their couch until I heard the doorbell. I sat back up and stretched, making a weird grunt noise while doing it. I slowly got off my lazy butt and stomped over to the door. I was greeted by the frowning face of my Esther and a grinning Alex.

"Alright, where's that little bugger." Esther grumbled.

"That's not a very nice thing to say about another human being!" I pretended to be shocked.

"Oh, shut up, will you? You know how irresponsible she can be."

"You should have seen her earlier."

"Whatever."

I rolled my eyes and invited them in. I told them to wait while I woke up Cara. To be honest, I was scared that she was going to jump me again! Weird right? A twenty-four year old scared of a five year old. I slowly opened the door to Scott's room. I crept over to Cara's bed and lifted her, careful not to wake her up. I carried her out to my sisters and gently placed her in Esther's arms. She stomped out of the house, muttering to herself the whole time.

"So who's this girlfriend that I've heard about?"

I spun around quickly and stared at Alex. "How the hell did you know?"

"I didn't, but now I do." She smirked at me. "So who is she?"

"Her name is Kaitlyn. If you're staying for tonight, then you'll be able to meet her." I informed my nosy little sister.

"Whatever." She plopped down on the couch and flipped through the different channels.

~~~~ SKIP TO 7:00 PM THAT NIGHT ~~~~

"I should probably go get her now. Be back soon." I head out the door and drove off to pick up Kaitlyn. I walked up to the front door once I arrived there. I slightly rapped on it, and it slowly creaked open.

I crept in and called out, "Kaitlyn? Are you here?"

No answer.

I was just about to sit down until I heard something crash in her bedroom. I stood up and ran to her bedroom door. I knocked on it quickly.

"Babe are you okay?" I asked worriedly. There was some whispering and shuffling around. She opened the door out of breath. "What happened in there?"

"Oh, uh, i-it was, uh, n-nothing. I was working out on my new treadmill, and when I jumped off I knocked over my lamp off the bedside table. Don't worry."

"Okay then, well do you want to go after you get changed?"

"Get changed for wha-oh, that's right, movie and pizza. Yeah, give me about ten minutes." With that, she slammed the door in my face, missing my nose by millimetres. I decided to pass the time by making myself a sandwich.

Just as I took my last bite Kaitlyn came out. Man, she looked stunning! Even though she was only wearing some black skinny jeans, red converse, a shirt that had Smosh written on it, and had her hair tied back, she looked gorgeous. As I was thinking all of this and probably smiling like an idiot, Kaitlyn was snapping her fingers and shouting at me.

"Yo Kaplan! You ready to go or are you just wanting to ogle for the rest of the time?" She said sassily.

"Oh, uh, yeah, we should probably go now."

I intertwined my fingers with her and we walked out to my car.

When I turned into the driveway, I noticed that Kevin's car was parked there. I parked my own and walked inside to intresting sight. There was Mara, his younger sister, wrestling with Kevin on the floor, and by the looks of it, she was winning. Everytime she comes over for a visit, they always tend to wrestle, so I'm not really surprised by this.
