March 28

its more than just the start of a day today. I knew something was going to change today, how you may ask? I've got a strong feeling, also I'm performing in front of hopefully a much larger crowd today. When I woke up I looked in the mirror and instead of the usual sigh and reluctant get up I sprung into action and began getting ready. What was I getting ready for?

my street magic performance.

I picked out an outfit I was comfortable to perform in, I needed all the confidence I could muster up. A nice white flowy top paired with plain black leggings, grey converse and my infamous leather jacket. Today I was performing on the streets of New York, I had only ever attempted to go somewhere so big and rushed twice before, both going miserably. However I had recently realised if I wanted this to go somewhere I needed to get a bigger stage, a bigger audience.

I put on a light amount of makeup and quickly pulled my hair into a high pony tail before grabbing my minimal belongings and rushing out the door. My phone buzzed as I stepped out into the hallway outside my small hotel room and I pulled it out as I locked the door and headed on my way to the streets.

Danny Boy : you're gonna do great, if you need anything just call I'm not gonna be far away

I type a quick reply with something along the lines of ok and continued towards the area I'd planned out the previous day. I took a few deep breaths before getting up onto a bench. I stood up straight hoping to convince myself that I have uncanny amounts of courage. My eyes marvelled at the flocks of people rushing around the busy city up and down the streets. "Hello! Hey! Everybody gather around! I am about to show a true art form! Magic!" I began using my voice calling out loudly trying to get a crowd to form. Luckily about 15 people stopped what they were doing and came over forming a semi circle around me.

I pulled out a deck of cards and began flicking them around the palm of my hand tossing a couple in the air and catching them with my other hand. A further 5 or 6 people joined the small audience after seeing my little bit of cardistry. "Hello everybody! My name is Tess Reynolds and I'm here to perform a little bit of magic!" I called out loudly so everyone could hear. Although I was using my fake name and fake identity it was almost as if I was the real me. Almost as if I was Grace Atlas again.

"Okay so I'm no Lionel Shrike but I can still do some pretty cool stuff. Firstly I need a volunteer! You ma'am please come up here! Don't be shy come on climb up! Okay firstly what is your name?" I said obnoxiously loud. As I was talking a couple people left but a few people also joined my crowd so now I had close to 25, I smiled broadly and listened closely for the young ladies name. "Katie Anne" the pretty girl, who looked to be about 18, said nervously. I flashed her a quick smile before looking back at my group.

"Okay Katie Anne! I need you to pick a card any card! Wait no not that one," I joked but I don't think she realised because I noticed her feeling awkward and nervous. "It's a joke!" I whispered loudly and obviously behind the back of my hand. She gave me a small smile and quickly grabbed a card. "Okay show your friends out there" I said gesturing towards the gathering of people. She showed them the card as I told her to and pulled it up against her chest hiding it from my view. "Katie I want you to put the card on top of my deck and then tell me how many times you want me to split it," I said. Katie did as told and then told me "7". I cleanly split the deck 7 times and then looked up at Katie. "This good?" I asked and she nodded eagerly wanting to see what comes next. I have the full deck in one hand and with my other hand I wave it over the deck for absolutely no reason at all then click my fingers. I then place my other hand on top of the deck sandwiching it between my hand and blow lightly. I remove the top hand and look at the admirers and smiled.
