Once we were off the stage we ran. We ran fast. We ran in all different directions through the Mardi Gras celebrations. The plan was to meet up in an area far enough away from the theatre that the cops wouldn't suspect it. Thousands of people were walking around most of them drunk and staggering around which made it a hard task to get through them. My feet were killing me, I'd worn performance clothing not running-from-the-cops clothing which meant very uncomfortable formal clothing with wedges. I pushed my way through the massive crowds not daring to turn around. I ducked and slipped hoping to not draw attention to myself.
I looked up from street names, I had been running for a solid five minutes turning down streets dodging my predators. Flower Lane. I thought back to when we were planing, we had all been studying the surrounding streets and alleys so we'd know where to go. I turn in and just as I expected right at the end there is a wall, a little taller than me, but luckily there were crates and bins so I could easily get up and over. I sprint towards it and climb up careful not to fall. I jump to the other side with ease and keep running. My foot slips though and my ankle rolls harshly sending a sharp pain shooting through my leg. I gasp in agony as I limp as fast as I can to the meting point. Just make it to the end of this alleyway and your almost there.
I can see the meeting point after turning the corner. I take deep breaths and keep going as I see Henley running ahead of me. "Henley!" I try to yell but it only comes out like a whisper, the trauma of my ankle taking away my usually loud voice. I watch her effortless slip through the back door of the warehouse and I try to pick up my pace. "Freeze! Don't move!" I hear a car come up behind me, the flashing lights dancing around my peripheral vision and sadness takes over, I'd let them down. I take another step towards the warehouse even though I'm still a good 70 feet away. I hear the police get out of their car and slam the door loudly. "I said don't move!" A man yells angrily. I roll my eyes acting as though I wasn't scared, in reality I was about to piss myself.
I turn around slowly and face him smirking.
-3rd person-
Jack, Atlas, Merritt and Henley watched from the inside of the warehouse as Tess was about to get arrested. They saw her ankle swollen as she limped around. "I said don't move!" A police officer moved towards Tess and yells at her. The horsemen see her flinch and they all hold their breath, don't get caught Tess don't get caught.
Tess stood there in shock her mind racing trying to think of a way to get out of the situation. Self defence.
Everyone watched in suspense as the officer took another step towards Tess. The second officer, another male also made his was to the injured girl. "Turn around," one of the men instruct Tess. She does so and as he pulls out his handcuffs to arrest the women, she thrust up her elbow hitting one of the men in the face. The four other horsemen gasp at the sudden violence as they watch the scene play out in front of them. Tess swivels around and knees the confused man in the in the stomach making him double over in pain while the other officer steps forward ready to take charge of the situation. Tess takes a deep breath before attempting to knee the other man in the groin, this time she's not so successful and she misses making her stumble forward. The first officer regains composure and they both grab Tess and shove her towards the wall so she couldn't harm them as they arrest her. Tess yelps loudly in pain as her foot is kicked by the two well built men.
Jack, Atlas, Henley and Merritt watched in horror as her face is pushed up against the wall forcing her to look towards the warehouse. "No... Grace... Don't..." Atlas says under his breath completely confusing everyone. Even though there was a big distance between the groups the horsemen could distinctly see a tear slide down Tess' cheek in fear and defeat. Jack and Atlas had had enough. Atlas was the first to burst out of the warehouse charging at the men who were so roughly handling his sister and Jack followed only seconds after. Atlas pulled the two officers off of Tess and bung their heads together while Jack grabbed Tess and ran her back to the warehouse. "Here, I'm going to go help Atlas," Jack said slightly panting as he placed Tess down carefully in front of the remaining horsemen before running back to the street brawl that was going down. Merritt then picked her up and took her to the only couch that was is the big warehouse they were hiding out in, helping her rest the sore foot.
