Grayson's POV
For the very first Monday in what seems like ages, I wake up naturally. No alarm, no Lia telling me that breakfast is ready, I just simply woke up. The only reason I got to do that is because Thalia took the day off for an ultrasound appointment. Of course, I'm excited, but I'm also partially terrified.
Turns out that Thalia was already 15 weeks and 3 days along when she told me she was pregnant. Today. she's exactly 16 weeks and we get to find out the baby's gender.
I look over at Lia and notice she's still sound asleep, and I'm not going to disturb her slumber. The appointment isn't until 11:15 am anyway, and it's only 8:03 am.
Theo will be attending the appointment as well. Lia and I haven't told him about his sibling yet, but we're really hoping he reacts positively.
As I'm getting out of bed, I notice how cold it is this morning, so I gently tuck Lia back in, then start my morning routine. After using the restroom, a shower, and brushing my teeth, I begin to make breakfast.
I get out of bed and tuck Lia back in, it's cold this morning and I won't have her be cold. Once I finish my morning routine, I begin to make breakfast.
By 8:49 am, I hear little feet step out of bed and run to the restroom.
"Bathroom! Bathroom! Bathroom!" I hear Theo yelling, causing me to chuckle as I plate the food and garnish it.
Once everything is prepped and looking fantastic, and have also made sure Theo has washed his hands, I head upstairs to wake Thalia.
"Baby?" I kiss her cheek and gently sweep some hair from her face. She grunts softly and curls into herself. "It's breakfast time, I made hash brown and sunny side up eggs and sausages."
She stretches and groans a bit before turning and smiling at me.
"That sounds amazing." She sits up and I smile as her bump comes into view. I immediately feel giddy with the thought of another baby, and much more giddy when I remember we'll be finding out the gender today. Thalia has been prepared for today since she told me she was pregnant four days ago.
"So..." I bite my lip as she pulls her hair into a bun. "How do these appointments go?" I ask softly, taking a seat by her.
"I have to have stretchy pants, drink tons of water and tell the doctor that only I can find out." She smirks as she pulls on a sweater and stands up from the bed. I frown.
"Why only you?" I get up quickly and follow her downstairs.
"Because, there is going to be a gender reveal for you and everyone else, other than your mom. She's helping." She shoots me a smile as she greets Theo.
"Why does my mom always know everything before me?" I pout.
She laughs, "She doesn't know I'm pregnant yet babe."
After the playful arguing and eating, we start to get ready for the day. After effectively bundling up and getting into the car, Theo begins to ask questions.
"Where are we going?" he smiles, always excited and hoping for an adventure.
"Doctors." Lia smiles. "We have a surprise for you."
Theo nods and begins to play with his T-Rex plush toy again. The drive is fairly silent, more nerves than anything.
Once we check in and get into the room for the actual ultrasound, we're waiting for the doctor. Lia's on the actual examination chair while Theo and I share a single person sofa.
"You want to tell him or me?" I whisper to Thalia while Theo observes the room. She clears her throat and smiles at me before gently grabbing Theo and pulling him towards herself.
"Theo?" She nervously smiles at him. He turns and smiles. "Have you ever wanted a little brother or sister?"
Theo hums and purses his lips then shrugs. "I dunno."
"Well, you're going to be a big brother, Theo!" Thalia grins hopefully and Theo smiles.
"Brother or sissy?"
"We're going to find out right now. What do you guys want?" Thalia glances at me and smiles with relief.
"Boy." Theo grins. Thalia nods and smiles.
"Me too." She turns to me. "What about you, Gray?" I bite my lip.
"That's hard to say." I smile. "I'd love another son, but I also want a daughter."
After assuring them that we'd all be happy, the doctor steps in, reviewing all of Thalia and the baby's information.
"Good morning, Thalia." The doctor smiles. "It's a wonderful surprise that your son and boyfriend were able to make it today."
Thalia greets the doctor, has a short conversation and then recieves instructions to begin the ultrasound. And in that short amount of time, my mind was able to become 110 percent more nervous than I initially was. I mean, for crying out loud! I am about to find out whether I'll have another son or my first daughter.
Thalia follows the instructions the doctor gives and raises her shirt while lowering her stretchy pants so the doctor can get the gel and start the ultrasound. I can't seem to keep my leg from bouncing up and down while the doctor moves the stick all over her belly.
"Alright, we've got the baby's head," He points at a little blob on the screen and then at little baby carrot shaped things. "Arms, legs." His finger rushes between body parts on the screen as he vocalizes them.
"Oh! Finally." The doctor hits a button, which snaps a picture, and smiles. "As you've asked, Thalia, I'm going to write down the gender and put it with the sonograms." My heart drops and I remember. I don't get to find out my child's gender today.
On the walk back to the car, I fake a frown and glare at Thalia, and I can tell it's getting her nervous. I get into the car after buckling Theo in and start it.
"What's wrong?" Thalia speaks softly. I can't fight the smile that's forming and ruining my facade.
"You're evil." I attempt to maintain my frown, but I end up laughing as she sighs with relief.
"You scared me! Grayson! I thought you were serious." She laughs. "And how am I evil?"
"You brought me here to see everything and then don't even let me find out the baby's gender? Pure sadism." I pout playfully. She smiles and kisses my cheek.
"You have to wait a month to find out." She winks and laughs. "How's that for sadism?" She smirks.
