"Gregory. . .Why do you look so sad?"
"I'm not sad. . ."
"Don't lie to your only friend, Gregory. . ."
"Why would I ever lie to you? . . ."
"You wouldn't. We're going to be friends forever"
"Forever"
| Johnny Ghost's POV |
"Sir! Wake up!" Toast yelled, shaking me lightly on the shoulders.
"Ugh. . . What, Toast?" I groaned in a groggy voice. I always hated it when he woke me up this way. Not only was his grip pretty hard, but I just hate being woken up in general. He was lucky I didn't snap at him this time.
"You do realise the time, don't you?" He asked, standing up straight as he looked down at me with a raised eyebrow and his arms folded.
"Does it look like I would know the time? Toast, you literally just woke me up" I snarled, putting my hand on my forehead as it began to throb. It was a normal occurrence every time I woke up, but it's been getting worse lately.
"It's late in the afternoon. You need to get your sleeping in order" He scolded. He may have been older than me, but I wasn't his kid, nor was I a kid in general. I'm a grown adult, I didn't need to be babied.
"Right..." I didn't want to argue with him, not with the way my head was. If I raised my voice, he'd also raise his, causing the headache to become more painful. I hissed in pain to myself which had caught Toast's attention.
"Are you alright, sir?" Toast asked, tilting his head, showing his general concern.
"I'm fine. It's just another headache" I said, brushing it off as I stood up from bed. I lost my balance and fell back down on the bed.
I made a nauseated noise, feeling my body swinging slightly. Strange how much a headache can make you fully aware of what your body is doing at every waking second.
"Sir, you should really get this checked out. It's getting more frequent and painful. . ." The concern was clear in Toast's voice. Do all British people get like this with their emotions? Can they easily change their voice tone to match their emotions like Toast? Or is he just weird? Or is it just me? Argh! I'm going crazy!
"I'll be fine. Nothing a little medicine can't cure" I said with a pained smile. The look on Toast's face rung with disbelief, but he shrugged it off, obviously not wanting to argue with me.
"Alright, do you want me to fetch it?" He asked, being the usual gentleman, he was. I chuckled softly, thinking to myself.
"No, it's alright. You're my best friend, not my butler" I joked, hoping to get a reaction from Toast. Yet, he remained stern. As usual, he didn't really smile, nor laugh. It was a rare sight yet it was a lovely sight to see.
"Just call me if you need me, Sir." He said before exiting the room.
My smile slowly faded as he left, my head became increasingly painful. It was so hard to bare, but I had to power through the pain. I stood up slowly from the bed, slightly losing balance before regaining it.
"You can do it, Johnny" I thought to myself, giving myself some self-reassurance.
