| Toast's POV |

The entire ride back wasn't quite what I had expected. It wasn't quiet and awkward. No. It was quite the opposite in fact. Melissa and I talked almost the entire ride home, with a few silences that were peaceful and not awkward. Every now and then I would look at her from the corner of my eye to see her looking out the passenger window, looking as if she was in deep thought or imagining something. A small smile would plaster itself on my face each time.

Melissa is such a sweet girl. I felt sorrier for her than the other people who have lost someone important. She told me that before she moved here and before losing Louise, she lost her mother. Ever since her mother's untimely demise, her dad completely disowned her and her younger brother. They lived with her aunt for a while before they both moved out and split ways. They used to be such a close family, but her dad blamed the two of them for their mother's death. Despite them not having anything to do with the death whatsoever.

Putting it simply, she was murdered.

"Any ideas for what you want to do for a job, Melissa?" I asked, bringing up the next topic to break the silence, even if it was peaceful, I enjoyed hearing Melissa's voice. It was soft and very soothing.

"I wanted to be so many things ever since I was a little girl" She chuckled remembering her past dream jobs.

"Oh?" I raised a brow and smiled at her as I continued to focus on the road ahead.

"At first I wanted to be an archaeologist" She said in a somewhat embarrassed tone. I was surprised to hear her say that. It's not a job that most women tend to go for, especially at a young age.

"How old were you when you wanted to take on that job?"

"5" She said simply.

"Five??" I repeated in a very surprised tone. She nodded slowly. Her pale cheeks flushed a gentle pink, making her look more adorable.

"Uh-huh. I have always been the weirdest little girl." She spoke more softly, lowering her head down slightly.

I let out a soft chuckle. "No need to be embarrassed about it. It's cute knowing you were an ambitious little child" I reassured her. The tint in her cheeks faded and she smiled at me.

"Thanks, Toast" She said sweetly. I nodded in response.

"Any other ambitions of yours?" I wanted to know more about her, especially all the personal stuff. It was weird.

"I also wanted to be a Policewoman, or a Crime Scene Investigator" She said with a big smile on her face.

"Oh really?" I asked, smiling at her.

"Uh-huh! In all honesty, I still want to become a Crime Scene Investigator!" She chirped happily. My goodness, she is so adorable.

"Well keep pursuing your dreams, no matter how far they seem, it's always possible to achieve them" I said softly, pulling up into the driveway.

Melissa turned to me after unbuckling her seat belt and laughed. "Since when were we in a Disney movie?" How innocent. I laughed and shook my head.

"Thank you though, for saying that Toast." She said in a soft yet serious tone. It wasn't the serious tone of an angry person, rather of a happy person.

Sad to see that happiness disappear as soon as she looked at the house. She let out a deep sigh, looking down at her lap.

I jumped out of the van and walked to the passenger side to open the door. "After you" I said, bowing to her. She gave me a small smile, nodding her head politely before getting out of the van. She walked up to the front door as I shut the van door before making my way up behind her.

I took out my keys and opened the door, allowing Melissa to go in first. She seemed hesitant at first but walked through the door. Following after her, I closed the door behind us and walked into the living-room.

"Ghost?!" I yelled, calling for him as I looked in each room on the downstairs floor to see if he had finally come out of his room. No sign of him down here.

"If you're not comfortable coming with me, feel free to sit on the couch and watch TV whilst I go and check upstairs" I spoke seriously towards Melissa, which seemed to put her on slight edge. I gave her a reassuring smile, which she half returned before walking to the living room as I walked up the stairs. It was oddly quiet in the house, but it has been for a while. I first checked the bathroom to see if he was in there. Nope.

I checked my room to see if he was rummaging through my stuff like he usually does. Not here either. I was beginning to think of the worst. What if he wasn't in his room? Did he escape? Are more innocent's lives being taken?

I took a deep breathe before knocking on his bedroom door. "Sir, are you in there?"

There was no response. My heart picked up it's pace as I waited for an answer before knocking again. "Sir, please answer me and open this door" My voice was shaky as my mind raced with every possible scenario.

I took a deep breathe before trying to open the door. To my surprise, it was unlocked. I walked inside, and my worst fear came true.

Ghost was nowhere to be seen.

I ran down the stairs frantically, almost losing my footing. I regained my balance, so I wouldn't fall down the stairs.

I ran into the living room which startled Melissa. I was breathing heavily and sweating, looking around the room as I tried to wrap my head around where he could've gone.

Melissa looked worried. "What's wrong?" She asked, almost fearing the answer, as if she already knew what I was going to say.

"Johnny isn't here"

[[ A/N: Heyo~ Finally got Chapter 10 done and out of the way. Sorry if it seems short. I mean, I really have no idea what I am doing anymore with this story. My creativity is literally gone. :/ Which sucks because I love writing. But it's just not as easy as it used to me. I am less descriptive and more of a dialog writer now. Which is a style of writing I personally don't like but it's hard to break. Anyway, thanks for reading. Chapters will still be slow. Thanks for being patient with me uwu ]]
