| Melissa's Pov |
We were on the road for what seemed like eternity. We were on track of Ghost who seemed to be on the move constantly. Did he know we were after him? Or was this really Ghost?
I had my doubts, but what else were we to do? Toast wasn't going to give up looking and I could let him go out in his own. But then again, what could I do being up against a crazed maniac. It has been a eventful few weeks and it was both emotionally and physically exhausting. Toast was sat in the driver's seat, glaring at the road with furrowed brows. The vibes he was giving off were uncomfortable. I could feel he was raging with multiple emotions at once, something that is known to be unhealthy for any person. I wanted to say something about it, but I had a feeling his response would be harsh, even if he didn't mean it. Billy was in the back, being silent. Which was weird for him from what I have heard. Apparently, he is loud and obnoxious with his childish act, along with Sally. But that wasn't the impression I was getting at this moment.
The air was thick and tense. It was difficult to breathe. I didn't want to be there for any longer, but I had to. But I had to stay. Why did I have to get myself involved with these men? I should have left as soon as I had woken up at their place. It's too late to back out now.
_____________
It was hours later, Toast finally pulled up at a hotel. The atmosphere didn't change, he was still giving off a tense vibe about him, I think Billy could feel it to. Without another word, he jumped out of the van and headed inside, expecting us to follow. Billy and I shared looks before jumping out and running up to Toast. Toast had checked us all in the hotel before turning around to us.
"We're going to stay here for the night. We'll be on the road in the morning" He said sternly, handing us our keys before heading up to his room. Billy and I looked down at our keys before sharing a look. Both confused with what on earth was going on in Toast's head. We looked away from each other, facing the lady at the front desk who looked equally as confused. I smiled awkwardly, waving goodbye to her as Billy and I left to go to our rooms.
"Billy, have you noticed the atmosphere changing around Toast?" I asked as we walked up the stairs. We were on the second floor, Toast was on the first. Billy nodded.
"Yeah. But it's always like this when it comes closer to nightfall" He spoke in his usual tone. I blinked hard, confused by what he meant.
"Huh?" I tilted my head, the confusion written clearly on my face. Billy's eyes widened slightly as he quickly looked ahead, acting like he made a wrong decision in telling me. He focused ahead of us and didn't answer me, picking up the pace as we headed upstairs.
"Billy wait- "
"Night Mel!" He said quickly, interrupting me as we quickly entered his room and shutting the door. I stood in the hall, confused. I shook my head, trying not to let what Billy said consume my thoughts for any longer, unlocking my room door and entered. I let out a deep sigh, closing the door behind me before walking to the bed and flopped down on it.
"Yeah. But it's always like this when it comes closer to nightfall" I couldn't get what Billy said out of my head, it was making it difficult to sleep. I ended up exhausting myself by trying to figure it out and fell asleep.
_______________
A loud bang woke me up from my slumber. My breath became harsh as I woke up in a panic. Was it Ghost? Or Jimmy, whatever he is? My eyes darted around the unfamiliar room, hoping to not see red glowing eyes. But there was nothing. Except...The door's lock was broken. My heart began to beat faster, there was someone or something in this room with me. But where?
I heard a snarl coming from the bathroom. My heart couldn't handle the fear, it felt like it was going to give out at any moment.
"Should I go check?" I though to myself. No...That's a typical white person thing to do in horror movies.
Although my gut told me to stay in bed, my legs automatically started to get out of the bed and walk towards the bathroom. Cautiously, I reached the slightly opened bathroom door. I gulped, regretting getting this far already, but I had to know.
"Curiosity killed the Melissa..." I thought before slowly opening the door. At that moment, my heart practically stopped. My eyes were wide with fear.
"Toast..."
