Mommy & Me Shopping Trip

"Gabriela, I think that you will look so cute in this" Joan stated with a smile as she held up a dress in front of Gabriela. 

The teen had to force herself not to roll her eyes at Joan. They'd been at this for hours now. She'd never seen so many pink frilly clothes in her life. None of the clothes screamed her. She wasn't really the type of girl to wear dresses or skirts, much less pink, she was more of a skinny jeans and tank top kind of girl, but she was pretty sure she didn't have a choice in the matter. She glanced down at her latest outfit. It was her last clean outfit that she brought with her, it looked nothing like the things in her basket. She took a deep breathe before she asked; 

"Hey, Mommy, can I perhaps, maybe have clothes like the ones that I am wearing?" She questioned somewhat timidly. Her back side still stung and she didn't want a repeat any time soon. 

"Absolutely not Gabriela, little girls don't go around dressed like that" 

"But you're wearing-" 

"Do not argue with me honey" Joan stated while pulling another dress off the rack and placing it into the basket. Gabriela sighed. If she couldn't contribute her input on her attire, why was she even here?

"Well darling, don't you just look adorable" Joan stated as she watched Gabriela descend the stairs in one of the dresses she told her to change into. "Dinner is almost ready, why don't you set the table for four please" 

"Four?" Gabriela couldn't help but question. 

"Yes, four, Mommy is having a visitor over today and I want you to be on your very best behavior. She is bring her daughter over so the two of you can play" 

Gabriela sighed. She was super uncomfortable with the idea of someone else coming over for dinner. She was a bit embarrassed about the situation she was in the begin with. Perhaps she should sit quietly the whole evening. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad and she'll be able to get through the day without getting into trouble...
