Aiden's POV

"Please, take a seat." The doctor, Dr. S. S. Bale, as it was written on the name plate, said. The office was an average one with white walls and a few of his certificates on it.

"What is it?" I sat in front of him.

"Actually, I should only discuss this with miss Lakewood's family, but it seemed that you're important too." He sighed and took out a paper from his file that he was holding. "She has amnesia. She has lost a year long memory due to the accident." My heart skipped a beat. "She doesn't remember that she is now seventeen and her parents are now in Korea. She thinks she is still a tenth grader and her parents are in London. She was wishing to see you this morning."

I was speechless. Did that mean that she thought that I was her...

"Can't we just tell her the truth?"

"No, it may cause more damage. She could go into a total denial state."

"Damage?" He got to be kidding me. I could not pretend to be her boyfriend, if that was the meaning behind all these. No way in a bleeding hell.

"Yes, she's in a state where she's just lost a year long memory. What do you think it would do to her mentality and health if we point that out?" He explained leaning into the chair.

I don't care! I wanted to tell at him, but restrained. "How long would it take for her to..." I did not know how to ask him anything without making him think that I was being insensitive about this whole thing.

"It may take a week, a month, three months, a year or it could be forever." He sighed, rubbing his eyes.

"And her school?"

"That's the discussion with her parents. I wanted to tell you that you should be a little sensitive towards her as I can see that you care about her, seeing as she's your girlfriend."

"She isn't my girlfriend." I gritted out. "Not anymore."

"Oh," he seemed a little disappointed. "Then, you have to pretend to be the boyfriend you were a year ago."

"I can't." I told him determined and stood up.

"It's not a matter of what you ca-" his voice was cut off as I walked out of the office with the door slamming shut behind me.

What the crap was all that? No way in this freaking world that I was not gonna be her boyfriend again. Even if it was a pretend. That phase was long gone. I could not bear that. Not anymore. I did not want to remember how she tried to separate us. What if she tried again?

Us? Is there really an 'us' between Enid and I? I thought to myself as I looked towards where the waiting area was and saw Enid sitting there with his head in his hand. I could not help but smile. If there was not any us, there would be one.

As I took the seat beside Enid, he jumped up, in the process startling me too. He let out a sigh of relief and chuckled, I laughed with him too.

"What did the doctor say?" Enid questioned and my smile disappeared immediately. "What is it?" He put a hand on my shoulder.

"She, she's fine. Just that... that she's lost last year's memory."

I could feel his hand slipping from my shoulder. "She's lost her memory? Of only a year?" His voice felt as if he was accusing me.

I closed my eyes and rubbed hands over my face. "She thinks she's sixteen and her parents are still in London."

"Huh." I could feel his eyes bore into me. "And you're her boyfriend?"
