Enid's POV:
My legs were shaking as I waited for Sam to arrive. The waitress came for the third time to ask me what I wanted to drink and I politely declined for the third time that if I needed something, I would call for her. She smiled for the third time and went away.
Sam arrived almost two hours late and I was ready to burst out on her.
"Where..." I started, but stopped when I saw Will. "What're you doing here?"
"Are you two secretly dating behind my back?" I was speechless and offended. How could he think like that?
"What?" I asked frowning.
"Then, shut up. Sam's told me everything."
I looked at her accusingly. "Sorry. Will has pressurized me. I can't lie to him." She pouted.
"You can't steal all the thunder of the show. I want the adrenaline pump too." He said excitedly with a wide grin on his face. Sam hugged her boyfriend.
"I had to explain all the things to him. That's why we're late." She explained.
"Sir, do-"
"Yes! Yes." I cleared my throat. I was relieved myself that I could finally put this poor girl to rest. "I'd like a hot cocoa and you two?" They ordered their hot chocolate too.
"So, what's the plan?" Will asked.
"Let's jump off the bridge." I retorted, but glared at Sam as her leg got connected with my feet, hard. "I was kidding, woman."
She rolled her eyes before the drinks came. "Let's try with the doctor first. I mean he was the one who diagnosed that Dri has amnesia." The way she air-quoted the word "amnesia", I could not help, but laugh.
She looked at me with a quizzical expression. "Sure, the plan's great. What're we gonna do then?" I asked as I sipped from my cup.
"Ask him for more information." She simply said.
"It's not that easy." Then I told them about the whole police officer thing. "I think we should go there first."
"Why didn't you tell us before?" Will asked, but I only shrugged.
"Well, I didn't know how to or would people even really believe me."
"Well, that's just stupid. Let's go." Will dragged Sam out of the coffee shop and I had to follow them, but not before leaving the money on the table.
As I got out of the shop, I asked them, "Where are you going?"
"To the local police station of the accident spot from where the two policemen were." I nodded and followed Sam and Will in my car.
It was half an hour later when we reached there. It had a very lazy atmosphere in the air. Most policemen were not in their desks as it was lunch time.
"Who?" Sam looked around the police station and asked.
I shrugged. I could not see any one of those two in there. My phone suddenly rang, startling me with Sam and Will. Some of the officers looked at me, making me uncomfortable. It was Aiden. I stepped outside to take the call.
"Hey." I said.
"Where're you?" His voice was very demanding.
"I'm here in Café House. I told you, remember?"
"Hmm." He hummed.
"What's wrong, Aide?" I was worried about him.
"Nothing. Be home soon. Bye." And just like that, before I could respond, he cut off the phone. Strange.
I went inside to see my friends talking with an officer. I went to them.
"Are you sure?" Sam asked. "In the last month too?"
"Ma'am, it's extremely calm neighbourhood. If someone has cut their finger, we get to know about it and you're talking about a whole accident. It's unlikely." The officer said.
My stomach dropped. Then how did not they know about Dri's accident?
"Um, how about officer Rosenberg and..." Shit! I forgot the other officer's name.
"Who?" The officer in front of us asked.
"Is there anyone named Rosenberg?"
"I'm sorry, kids. There's none."
How could Dri play with us like that? And Aiden? How could she do this with Aiden?
"Thank you." Will said and stood up. I could not move from the place, so I stood there like a statue until Will dragged me out of the police station.
Just to be sure we went to two more police stations. There we got one Rosenberg, but he was not the one we were searching for and he did not know about the accident either.
I was so stupid. I had this hunch since the time the "officer" greeted me by my name and I was sure that I did not tell him my name.
I parked the car next to the road and got out to get some fresh air. Although, I had kicked an innocent stone and it skidded a few feet before stopping, my anger did not go down. I wanted to confront Dri right there and then, but Sam stopped me.
"Let's suppose you get to confront Dri and then? You don't think she can make up some story and act all innocent."
"My girlfriend is so intelligent." I rolled my eyes hearing Will's compliment.
It was quite possible. Sam had a point. If she had been fooling us, she could fool us again with some stupid made up story too.
"True." I said. "Let's go back." I was tired and suddenly all I wanted, was Aiden.
When I got home, no one was there. I entered my room, only to find Aiden in my room. After the incident with Dri, he tried to stay away from her in these four days, I became anxious in school every time I saw Dri near Aiden.
He went to tutor Dri yesterday, but did not say anything about it, but his expressions were not particularly happy or troublesome. I did not ask him to tell me either.
I was happy seeing him there, in my room, on my bed, listening to soft music which he barely liked, eyes closed. I cancelled the plan of visiting him after a shower.
I did not waste any time and climed on top of him and kissed him till we were both sated and it was dinner time.
