Chapter 5

Enid's POV

Rick dragged me into the gym class, I couldn't even say anything to my friends. Anyway, I stumbled before coach and he eyed me.

"Coach, our new player. I talked to you about him."

"Yeah, yeah. I get it."

He faced me and put a hand on my shoulder saying, "Welcome to the team."

"Thank you," I replied.

He handed me my jersey. That was fast considering that it was only yesterday when Rick had offered me and I accepted not even twenty four hours ago. It was even had my name on it.

"We have been thinking about it for a while now." Rick said.

"Oh! I see." I answered not knowing what else to say.

"Already got it?" Aiden said smiling.

"Congrats!" Rick hugged me again before Aiden could. 'Why is Rick hugging mee that much?' I thought. Aiden's face was reddened. His frown was visible. Rick released me but held my shoulders. "Come, let's go to the class."

"Okay." We were about to reach the exit door when coach called for Rick.

"Huh, coach." Rick looked at me and said, "Go ahead, meet you guys later."

We left the gym, while Matt went to English, we went to the Chemistry, where we met half of our gang including Jake and Ginny, Ethan and Sally, along with Amy. Aiden and I took our usual seat in front of Amy and Rick who reached at least fifteen minutes late for the class, but Mr. Iyer said nothing, since Rick was the captain for the football team.

"Okay class, I'll let you practice your yesterday's work sheet now. Let's start, you don't have much time." We started quickly.

The first bell rang and we all were out of the class towards the Maths now. Aiden didn't say much, neither did I which felt hopelessly wrong. Anyway, at the end of the day was Biology and as usual Aiden saved my ass without complaining at all. I was grateful. I only smiled at him, and he smiled back. After Biology was my first day's football practice. I didn't really hurry, 'cause I was scared of what would happen. Finally I reached the field, everyone was stretching.  Aiden smiled at me encouragingly. A smile spread across my face and a warmth across my chest, I relaxed. Never thought this boy would leave such an impact on my life, ever.

I didn't notice Rick until he snapped a finger on my face, I startled.

"What?" I almost shouted.

"Stop giving chickish smiles to Aiden, everyone'll notice." He said with a smirk.

I was confused. I was not giving any kind of smile to Aiden. In fact he was my best friend and I couldn't even give him a smile? What was that? I glared at him. He held his hands up like he surrendered.

"Lewis! Grey! Come here." Coach ordered.

"Yes, coach!" Rick responded and we went running towards him.

"Listen, it's your first day, so I'll suggest you train with Rick." He ordered loudly. Why was he shouting? We were right in front of him.
