"Athena. Don't turn around."
Now, let me explain my actions first so you don't call me stupid.
1.) I was obviously curious as to what was behind me.
2.) He told me not to which means I couldn't help it.
3.) I'm not exactly in the right state of mind.
So, I turn around.
"Hey, Athena." Parker says, smiling.
"God damnit." Reece mutters under his breath, shaking his head.
"It's just Parker." I protest, glancing at Reece as he pales.
"Not for long." He mutters as he tries to pull at the door handle. It doesn't budge.
I turn back to Parker and furrow my eyebrows as he smiles.
The way he smiles...
It reminds me of somebody else.
Somebody I thought was gone a long time ago.
The lights completely shut off and I hear his malicious laugh echo around the halls.
Him.
That was his laugh.
Not Parker's.
"Dad." I whine.
He laughs jubilantly as he lifts me up onto his shoulders.
I squeal in delight.
He had just gotten me ice cream. Now we were walking home.
Sometimes we take a shortcut. Mom says not to take it because there's bad people here but we still go.
Dad lifts me off his shoulders as a man walks towards us.
He smiles but there's something off about his smile.
Aren't smiles supposed to be warm? His smile isn't warm.
Dad grips my hand and pulls me along but the man stops us with that same smile.
"Hello there." He says, nodding at my dad and giving me a glance.
"Good evening." My dad says, attempting to go around the man but he moves in the way.
