I survived the thinning

Part 2: test day

Kellen POV:

"Laina... I'm so sorry..." I say ( as I pull laina into my arms and hold her tightly ) "leave me alone kellen" she says as a tear slowly makes its way down her cheek. "Laina... are you okay?" I say. I watch as she ignores me and walks towards the school and opens the door.

Laina POV:

I wipe away the single tear and make my way into the school. "Lana right?" I turn around to see the one and only ( notice the sarcasm ) Blake Reddings. " it's laina" I say. " oh sorry, I was looking to buy one of your test answer contact lenses" he continued " do you have any left?" I look at him and think, how did i ever like this dumb blonde? I respond " no, I don't have any left. I sold my last one yesterday." "Crap" he mumbles as he walks away.

Blake POV:

I slowly walked into the classroom and sat down in a seat next to my girlfriend, Ellie. I look two rows ahead of me and see Lana-- sorry, Laina Micheals sit down in her seat. I look to the front of the room and see Ms. Birch sitting up front. She begins to explain the rules. "You will have 2 hours to complete this test. Look at your tablet only, if you are caught looking at someone else's you will be eliminated. Your test starts now."

Laina POV:

I pick up my tablet and start my test. 1 hour and 55 minutes went by and I filled out my last question and put the tablet down. Kellen turns his off right after me and looks at me nervously. I wrap my hands around his hand and squeeze it not too tight and look up at his face and smile at him.

Blake POV:

I look over at the clock and realize I only have a minute left. I fill out the last two questions right as Ms. Birch says "Time's up tablets down" she continues, " If i call your name do not resist" her voice cracks as she says the first name "Donald Green, Marcus Langley, Lane Vic, Carrey Bilich, Peter Strand, and finally... Ellie Harper." I look at Ellie and she looks at me, the guard walks over and grabs her roughly by the arm and drags her out of her chair.

Laina POV:

I turn around to see Blake's Girlfriend getting pulled out of her chair, Blake gets up and punches the guard. He screams "don't you ever lay a single finger on her again." Two more guards come running and they hold Blake back. They call for two more guards to hold Blake back. Yeah he's that strong. Ellie is screaming and crying and so is Blake. "ELLIE!!! NO!!!" He screams. As they close the doors Ms. Birch says "Mr. Reddings... I'm afraid she's gone... you need to let her go."

Blake POV:

The guards let go of me and I drop to my knees. I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn and see Laina there. She whispers "sorry about Ellie, Blake. She'll be missed." I put my face in my hands and begin to cry. I shake my head and say "I hate this stupid system." Laina nods and says "I do too. You're not the only one."
