I survived the thinning

Part 4: Escaping

Laina POV:

As they drag out all of the people who failed including me, I see people coming out of their classes and walking into the rec room. And then he saw me. I was crying and my face was really red, but when I looked at him I only saw panic.

Blake POV:

I pushed kellen off me and walked out of my classroom and looked down the hall. And there she was, her face red with sadness and her eyes filled with tears. As I walked into the rec room a guy from another school walked over to me and said "Congratulations! You're the Gouverneur's brother right?" I looked at him and walked away. I decided that I had to help Laina so I carefully checked the hall for guards. It was all clear so I quietly ran to the server room. I stayed behind the door until Mason King walked out. I quietly caught the door and made my way into the server room.

Laina POV:

They put us into scrub type things and strapped us into chairs. Everybody was really scared. I was still crying quietly. Then Mason King walked in and picked up his phone to call someone, he said "are we approved to commence the thinning?" And, from the phone, comes a deep voice saying "you are approved." At this point the guards start pulling out needles and everyone is screaming. I close my eyes and try to think about Corinne, Joey, Blake, and Kellen.

Blake POV:

I try to turn the computer on but it's asking for Mason King's password. I turn around and see a circuit box, I open it and rip the cables out hoping that I'm not too late... The lights go off and a red light turns on and off on and off.

Laina POV:

The lights went off and the chairs we were strapped to unstrap and it's absolute chaos. The guards are beating the students that put up a fight. I turn around and look at the guard, and see that he's distracted. So i make a run for it, I open the door and run out. I walk down the hall and try to open the door, but it's locked. I hear a deep voice coming from behind me saying "what are you doing here?!" I respond with "well you're finally here! I called for you 10 minutes ago!" He said "why are you wearing--" i cut him off before he can keep going. I say "I'm Ms. Birch. Grades 10-12. I saw a student walking down those stairs!" He turns around and tries to open the door. I jump on his back and start hitting him. Then he pulls me off and slams me into the lockers.

Blake POV:

I start to walk down the hall and i see a guard hitting someone. I run down and pull him off them and punch him several times until he's unconsious. I go over to the person and help them up. I look at their bleeding face and see that it's Laina.
