Dan squished his face into the crook of Phil's neck, absentmindedly rubbing his belly.

It had been a month since Dan had found out he was pregnant with his and Phil's third child, him and Phil couldn't be more thrilled to have another baby.

Today though, was very important. Today was the day that they were going to tell their two children, 4 year old Lia and 10 year old Jacob, that they were going to have a another sibling.

"I'm so nervous" Dan stated quietly, not moving from his place on Phil's chest.
"Don't be nervous love, remember how excited Jacob was to have a little sister?" Phil reminds Dan.
"I know Jacob will be excited, I don't know about Lia though," Dan tells Phil. "She's never said anything about being a Big sister."

Phil sighs. He understands why Dan is nervous, but he knows there's nothing to worry about. "Well," He says, "We'll never know until we try."

He stands up from the couch and calls the kids to the lounge. He sits them down across from him and Dan. They look confused, as they only have meetings like this when they're in trouble.
They can't remember doing anything recently.

"So, Papa and I have something very exciting to tell you." Dan starts nervously.

"Yes Dada?" Lia asks curiously. Dan looks at Phil.
"Well, in about 7 or 8 months, you're going to have a baby brother or sister." Phil tells them happily.

Lia gasps and shrieks. "Yay! I be a big sister!" Dan is so relieved he could cry. But he quickly notices that Jacob hasn't said a word, and looks over to see him sulking in the couch. Dan's nerves return as all his attention turns to his son.

"Jakey? What's wrong bug?" Dan asks the 10 year old.

Jacob doesn't say a word as he stalks to his room and slams the door. Dan looks at Phil, worry darkening his features.
"Give him some time, he'll be okay." Phil assures him. Dan nods his head hesitantly.

He turns his attention to his daughter, who looks confused as why her big brother had run off, but is stil giggling excitedly. Dan babbles to her as Phil leaves to go check on their son.

He slowly knocks on the bedroom door. "Jakey? You okay? Can I come in?" No reply.
He pushes the bedroom door open to find Jacob curled in a burrito of blanks on his bed, somehow still looking angry.

Phil takes a deep breath and sits on the end of the bed. "Jacob, Love, What's wrong? Aren't you excited to be a big brother?"

"I'm already a big brother." He states simply from his blanket-burrito.
"I know you are, and you're a great one for Lia. And I think you're going to be a great big brother for the new baby too."
Jacob sits up at these words.

"But I don't want another sibling."

Phil's heart breaks into a thousand pieces. All he wants is for his kids to love each other.
He stands up to leave the room, not knowing what else to say.

He just hopes Jacob will change his mind.

Five months pass, Dan's belly slowly gets bigger, Lia gets more excited, Jacob gets angrier.

They feel the baby kick constantly, and Lia is fascinated, Jacob seems repulsed.

They find out the gender at twenty-three weeks.

"Are you excited?" Phil asks Dan
"Very." Dan replies, looking up at the screen that shows their baby.

The doctor lets them hear the heartbeat, and then asks the all important question, "Do we want to find out the gender today?"
They nod excitedly. She moves the wand a bit and announces, "Well, I'd say you're having another little girl!" Dan tears up, Another little girl, he thinks. He loves her already.

They tell the kids as soon as they get home. Lia shrieks in joy. "Sissy! Sissy!" She yells happily.

Jacob scowls at his Dads. He at least wanted a brother if he had to have a sibling.
---------------------
Dan goes into labor on September 14th, and gives birth to their little girl, Taylor Jade, in the early hours of September 15th.

Lia is so overjoyed to finally have a sister that she starts to cry. They let her hold her sister, who she holds as if she is as fragile as glass. They're so in love they can barley take it.

"I love her Daddy." She tells Dan as he takes Taylor back from Lia.

Jacob is a different story completely. The first two weeks of having Taylor home, he barley acknowledges that she's in the house. Even when she starts crying in the middle of the night, he still pretends he only has one sister.

It's 4:17 in the morning, three weeks after Taylor was born. Dan wakes up to screaming coming from the baby monitor on the sidetable. He groggily gets up to tend to the small child.

He enters her nursery, and walks over to the small crib. He picks her up and puts her on his shoulder, rocking the baby silently.

The door creaks open, Dan expects it to be his husband, making sure Taylor was alright.

The last person he expects it to be is Jacob, still in his pajamas, rubbing his eyes tiredly.

"Jacob?" He whispers in shock.
"Daddy?"
"What are you doing up?"
"I heard Taylor crying. I just..um..wanted to know if she's okay." He admits gently

Dan's whole body floods with relief and love for his kids.

"Oh Jacky," He says lovingly, "She's okay just a bit hungry."
"Can I...hold her..?" Jacob says reluctantly. Dan can't believe it, he's so happy that he tears up.
"Of course you can baby, of course you can."

He sits Jacob down in the rocking chair, and guides a whimpering Taylor into his arms. Jacob looks at her lovingly and strokes her tiny face, she immediately grabs his finger with her tiny hand.

Dan's heart swells with pride. He has no idea was caused Jacob's sudden change of heart, but right now he couldn't care less. His son is finally happy.

And Jacob smiles, a real true smile that Dan hasn't seen since he told him he was pregnant.
Dan is full on crying now, and he notices the Taylor is asleep with her hand around her big brothers finger.

Jacob giggles quietly, and strokes her soft brown hair with gentle hands.

"She's holding my finger!" He informs his father.
"I know sweetheart, I know." He say, wiping his eyesz

"Do you love your sister?" Dan asks him honestly

"Yes." Jacob tells his Dad. "Both my baby sisters."

"Good," Dan whispers "Your sisters love you too."

And Dan is finally happy. All he ever wanted for his kids to love each other. And now they all do.

Dan has never been happier in his life.
