(Forth's POV)

Everyone almost cried because of joy when P'Kong announced that we could now get the flag. We never thought we could make it for we doubted ourselves in the last second upon seeing P'Kong's expression changed.

We thought, we did something wrong.

We thought, it's the end for us...and it's not a happy one.

However, jus like what he'd said, through perseverance we can make it.

One by one, all the seniors go out from behind the stage with candles on their hands and start lining up in front of us. We all sit on the dirty ground with only those candles as our light. They ask for our right wrists where these seniors will be tying a white band as a symbol that we pass their test and already consider as their juniors. (I don't know when they would be giving our gears. But some said, it's on the day of our outing in a beach. It will really be the last initiation rite)

Some women could no longer stop themselves from crying out of happiness. I, myself, feel like crying with them too because it really feels so good to finally get what you want after all those hardships.

The most precious things in life are gotten through hard works.

"Congratulations," a senior who is assigned to tie the band on my wrist, says.

I smile at him.

"From this moment on, you are one of our juniors. Study well, focus on your goals, and do everything with heart. We might not be having meetings like this anymore, but you can still come to us if you need help. We will always be here for you."

He is reciting those words while tying the band.

Many people condemn this practice that we Engineering faculty has...but right now, I'm willing to defend it with all my life from those who would be saying it again.

I finally realize the true meaning of SOTUS. It's not only teaching about this faculty but also about life.

"Susu na, Nong Forth."

Despite of gloomy-like surrounding (if other people can see us) because we only have candles as lights, the mood is so festive. We no longer see our seniors as people with huge horns on their heads, but rather someone we should always respect to. They're now smiling, laughing, and joking with us.

We suddenly create a bond, only engineering students like us could understand.

That night in my room, I keep on staring at the white band on my wrist. They told us that we could remove it after since it's not actually our gear bracelet. It just showS that we passed SOTUS.

But, I dOn't feel like taking it off.

Why?

Because it was tied by the person I treasure the most, right now.

Opps, don't get me wrong. It's not the senior who tied it with me earlier. It's the second person I asked to bind it again on my wrist after removing it.

After our event on the campus' huge field, I noticed a group of people striding on our hallway. They're wearing white robe on top of their school uniform. Some of them had a stethoscope hanging on their neck, some hadn't.
