Vic POV

I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling, feeling nothing but self-pity. I missed Kellin a lot, but I knew that it was the right thing to do to let him go.

"Vic! Oh my God, Vic!"

I ignored Mike, still staring up at the ceiling. Couldn't he see that I was busy wallowing in self-hate?

"Seriously, Vic, open the door! I need to tell you something!"

"What?" I groaned, standing and opening the door to reveal a frazzled looking Mike. He was panicking, running right into the room and beginning to pace.

I was starting to get worried. What was wrong with him? "Mike, what's wrong?" I asked, grabbing his shoulders and making him stand still.

"Kellin's gone!" he yelled, breaking free and pacing again. I frowned.

"What do you mean he's gone?" I asked slowly.

"He's gone, Vic! Kidnapped, ran away, something! His mom was on the phone with Mom and crying because he's been gone all weekend and she hasn't heard from him!"

I was beginning to feel panicked, but I knew that I needed to remain calm. "What do you mean, kidnapped?"

"They haven't heard from him for two days! Vic, you know that's not like him! He always lets everyone know where he is, when he left, and when he'd be back! What if something bad happened to him? Oh God, I bet he-"

I stopped listening as my heart dropped to my stomach. There was only one person I knew that would kidnap Kellin, just a mere Mortal.

A Demon.

What had those Demons said at our date? Something about them not letting me become like an Angel, loving a Mortal.

What if they took him?

"Oh God, Mike, I think I know where he is."

"What do you mean? Did you know about this? Is this one of your sick pranks?"

"No, Mike, God. I think Demons kidnapped him."

Mike let out a disbelieving laugh. "Demons? What would they want with Kellin? Besides, why would they go through the trouble of kidnapping him? Demons kill, not keep."

"When we were on our date, Demons tried to take him. I had to kill them, Mike. I killed them. But they told me that they wouldn't let me become like an Angel and love a Mortal. I'm pretty sure they said something about them not being the only ones after him."

Mike's face was paling with every word that came out of my mouth. "So you think...you don't think that they might have..."

I felt my heart ache at the thought of what they could have done or could be doing to Kellin at this moment. "I don't know, Mike. I don't know what I think."

"What are we going to do? We can get Dad's help, maybe, and maybe Mom's! We could-"

"No, Mike," I said, cutting him off. "This is my battle to fight, and I'm going to finish it. With or without help-preferably without."

"What in the hell do you mean you're going to face a bunch of Demons without help?" Mike shouted. "I'm coming with you, whether you want me to or not."

"No!" I yelled. "Don't you see, Mike? It's me that they want! I refuse to let anyone else I love be dragged into this mess all because I can't handle my own shit! If they kill me, then they kill me! At least Kellin will be alive!"

"Who's to say that, Vic?" Mike reasoned. "What if they kill him as soon as they see you? Or what if they see you, take you captive, and kill him right in front of you? You can't do this on your own, I don't care what you say or how big you talk. You can't."

"I'm not dragging you into this, Mike," I said, shaking my head. "I refuse to."

"Well too bad. You can't make my decisions for me. And while I'm at it, I think I'll get the help of some Angels."

"Mike!" I yelled. "You're seeming to forget that I've already killed two wild Demons, and that I'm the strongest of any species. I can handle myself."

"And you're seeming to forget that no matter how strong you are, there's still a possibility of you dying."

I sighed, knowing that I was going to get nowhere with him. "Fine. But no help from Angels."

"Oops."

At that very moment, seven or so Angels appeared out of thin air. I blew the air out of my nose angrily. Of fucking course I forgot about Angels being able to communicate with each other with their minds in times of danger.

"I fucking hate you, Mike."

The Angels looked nervous to be around me. I've never seen any of them before, but I know that they've heard of me. It's not everyday that a hybrid is born into your world.

So, even if they didn't know me, they knew of me. Which meant they knew that I was half Demon...which meant that they knew that I fed from humans.

Great. What would make them want to help me?

"Why are you guys going to help me? You know that there's nothing in it for you, and you know that I'm a half Demon. Who's to say that my intentions are pure?" I taunted. Mike glowered at me. He knew that I was trying to make them leave.

"Yes, but you're also half Angel, so your intentions have to be pure," one answered quietly. "You seem to forget about your Angel half."

"Only because the Demon half is stronger."

"Good always overpowers the bad, Vic," another one said. "And we're willing to help, because we know you love the Mortal that is in danger. We can't let one of our own lose their loved one."

I was touched, to say the least. No matter what I did, no matter what I was, I was still considered one of their own.

I really underestimated Angels.

"Thank you," I smiled. I turned to Mike, raising a brow.

"So, what's the game plan?"
