Vic POV
"Do you think that they took Kellin to the hospital?" I asked Mike, referring to the Angels.
"Probably," he answered. We turned in the direction of the hospital, running. But we weren't running supernaturally fast, considering that we were in public.
"We should make sure before I call his parents," I said. Mike nodded as the hospital came into view.
We walked in, greeted by the front desk. The lady behind it looked up.
"May I help you?"
"Uh, yes. Is there a Kellin Quinn-Bostwick here?" Mike asked.
She checked her computer. "Yes. But before I can give you the room number, you need to tell me who you are and how you've related."
"We're his cousins," I said quickly. Mike gave me a look of disapproval, but said nothing.
"Alright. Your names?" she questioned politely, typing quickly.
"Vic and Mike."
"Room 124."
"Thank you," Mike said, and we walked away. "Cousins, huh?" he asked dryly.
"How else were we supposed to get in, nimrod? You have to be related."
We fell silent as we neared Kellin's room, and I began having second thoughts.
What if he didn't want me here? What if he hated me? Would I be able to stand seeing him like this?
I slowed to a stop and Mike gave me a questioning look.
"What's wrong?"
"I can't do this, Mike," I answered, shaking my head. "What if he doesn't want to see me? And I don't want to see him like this."
Mike rolled his eyes. "He might not want to see you, but you did just save his life. Plus, I imagine that you have a lot to talk about. You can do this, Vic. Don't run."
I took a deep breath, drinking in his words. I could do this.
"Alright," I breathed. "Let's do this."
Kellin POV
There was a soft tap at the door. I glanced up, my heart racing.
"Come...Come in?"
Mike's head popped in and I felt relief wash over me, which was soon replaced with dread as I spotted the person with him.
Vic.
They stepped in, looking at me sympathetically. Vic's eyes were tortured, but he smiled.
"Hey, Kells. How ya holding up?"
I glanced at the cast on my left arm and the boot on my right foot. "As you can see, I'm not."
He nodded as if he knew, looking away. it was beginning to get awkward, but Mike stepped in to save us.
"You don't have to worry about the Demons, Kellin," he said softly. "We killed them all."
The gust of air in my lungs whooshed out. "Really?" I whispered. He nodded and I felt like I could cry.
"Thank you. Both of you," I said, feeling actual tears fill my eyes. "God. I thought I was going to die."
"I would've never let that happen," Vic murmured. We met eyes before he looked away.
"Well, I can see that you guys have a lot to talk about," Mike said quickly. I begged him with my eyes to stay, but he shook his head. "Bye."
And with that, Vic and I were alone.
"So," he said. I looked at him expectantly and he sighed, sitting down. "I'm so sorry, Kellin."
"What for?" I asked. He looked away."
"Leaving you. Loving you. Getting you into this mess. Everything."
"You don't have to apologize," I said quietly. "I knew what I was getting myself into before I got into it."
"Kellin," he said desperately, looking me in the eyes. "I need you. I understand if you don't want me back, but I want you."
I bit my lip. Did I even want Vic back?
"I...I need to think about it."
His face blanked before he nodded. "Of course," he whispered. His eyes were pained, but he smiled, standing up. "I'll go call your parents. Let them know you're alright."
"Okay," I whispered. He stepped out and I closed my eyes, exhaling heavily.
What was I going to do?
