Play it again: a divergent high school fanfiction

Chapter 17

We all walked toward my front door, arms linked together. I Started to get excited. I cant remember the last time I had a birthday party. I never had the friends to invite. Usually, I just went out to dinner with my family, and that was that. But now my friends had gone out of their way to plan a surprise for me. It was sweet.

We walk in the front door and through the hallway to the main room. I actually am surprised at what I see. I had expected the party to be just our group of friends, But I was greeted by what looked like most of our school yelling

"SURPRISE"

Standing at the front of the crowd was Tobias and the other guys of our group. Will, Zeke, and Uriah attacked me with a hug, then moved out of the way for Tobias to come through. I walked to him and gave him a hello kiss.

"You know when you said our friends were planning a surprise party, I didnt know the while school was showing up." I joked with him. I actually had no idea who all was here.

"not the whole school," He said with a smile. "It's split about 50/50 between our classes"

"Oh is that all?" I laughed. Its not as if I didnt have the room in my house. We had the main floor, the basement, and 5 more upper level. Three of the levels had pur bedrooms. Mine on the Top, Calebs the level below, and my parent- my moms now- under his. I kinda did hope they hadnt gone up to our rooms, but there was no stopping them now if they had.

"I hope its not to much. We blocked off the levels with your bedrooms on them, so no one's going through your things." He says as if reading my mind.

"where's my mom and Caleb?' I asked him " I hardly doubt they'd be okay with the underage drinking and half our school being here."

"Well we talked to your mom about the invites, so that parts okay. The drinking obviously not. And to answer your other question...Well originally Your mom and dad were going to be leaving earlier today, and Caleb was to be at a friends house. Obviously your mom couldnt leave yet now because of your dad, so her and caleb went to stay at a hotel for the night. She said they needed to clear their heads anyway."

After a minute he leaned in close and asked quietly, " how'd it go with telling the police and telling your mom." he paused then added You know your going to have to tell everyone what happened soon right?"

I sighed "I know. Ill explain everything later to you and Ill tell them soon. not now, I dont want to ruin this."

"Okay." he said and his fingers lightly brushed my neckline. I was wearing the believe necklace he gave me on our first date. I had been saving it for special occasions. I didnt want anything to happen to it, since it was his sister's and it meant a lot to him.

" I love seeing you wear that." He told me.

"I love that you trusted me with it." I replied and give him a kiss. He wouldve deepened it, but Chris came over and pulled us apart.

"Okay Four I gave you too five minuets for all your lovey dovey stuff. Time to celebrate Tris' birth." She announced dramatically, And pulled me to where everyone was dancing.I guess A huge cleared space in the main level had been cleared for a "dance floor" There was even a DJ On a makeshift stage, and lights flashing everywhere. I Smiled. They really did go all out for this.

We laughed and danced togther for a while, then the rest of our friends came and found us. We all partied together for about an hour then Lauren walked up to the stage. it was the first I had seen of her all night. She seemed to be having fun because she looked a little tipsy. The room quieted as she spoke.

"Attention everyone! First of all I want to say happy birthday to Tris. I wish I knew her better. But I do know this: She is a gorgeous girl with a great personality. Anndd A killer singing voice! Tris sweetie, as soon as football season is over, im having a party and youre preforming. No exceptions!"

"I wont argue to that." I yelled up to her. Sometime during the speech everyone around us had cleared forming a cirlce around us. She asked if anone else wanted to make a speech and of course Christina piped right up. She ran onstage.

"Okay tris. Lets start when we met. You were new here, and so different from you are today. You were quiet, wore baggy clothes, and were afraid to speak your mind. You've grown up so much and matured. I love you so much and youre my best friend. Youre always here for me, and you put up with all my quirks. I could go on forever but I know for a a fact someone elese ahs a very special speech to give you." She laughs and comes off stage. Tobias walks up

"Tris. Tris I dont even know where to start with this. We met at the dance last year and I was speachless when I saw you. To my surprise you were outspoken and actually asked me to dance."

I laughed at the memoryThen he continued

"I thought I loved you then Even if I didnt want to admit it. I had never been the guy to have serious relationships or to fall in love. You changed me for the better. You somehow see the good in me and know me better than i know myself. You're the love of my life Bea, and I hope you have the bet night of your life- No matter how cheesy that sounds." He added jokingly. People appluaded as he came back over to me.

I felt tears in my eyes, but they were of happiness. When he reached me I pulled him into a deep kiss. My hands running through his hair, and him holding me- safely. People applaudedd even louder and Uriah started whistling. i couldnt help but laugh so I had to break away from the kiss. A couple speeches, a cake destroyed by teens, and A LOT of dances later, my house had cleared out. leaving just our close group to finnish out the night with a sleepover.
