Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Good Girl

"You made Dewek cry earlier, didn't you?" tanong ng halimaw noong makaalis ang limousine na sinasakyan ni Derek. 

Wala sa sarili akong tumango. Hindi ko man lang nagawang lingunin o tingnan si Derek... I'm such a coward. 

"He's just a kid, Charlotte." Sumner rakes a hand through his jet black hair. Frustrated din, gaya ko. "Bakit siya umiyak?"

"He asked me if I love him and I said I don't."

"You are an idiot."

"I know."

"You don't get it do you? You love him, and you're already attached to him."

Napaupo ako at napasabunot sa maikli kong buhok. Fuck, ayokong umiyak sa harap ng halimaw na 'to. "I fudging know."

"Then don't just sit there, idiot."

I look up and see his awaiting hand to pull me up. 

Inabot ko ang kamay niya. He pulls me close, medyo napalakas kaya nadulas ako. Tumama lang naman ang ulo ko sa mabangong dibdib niya. 

Daammmnn. Ang bango, bango niya talaga. 

Bago pa ko ma-hypnotize sa amoy niya, tinulak ko siya palayo. Hinatak niya naman ulit ako. "Ano ba?! Susundan ko sila—"

"Susundan natin sila, my car's faster than yours."

"Are you insulting my Eren?!"

"Gusto ko lang mapabilis tayo."

And so, we use his Range Rover para habulin sina Derek. 

Hindi pa naman sila gaanong nakakalayo kaya agad kaming bumuntot sa kanila. Sunod-sunod na bumusina si Sumner, nilabas ko naman ang kamay ko sa bintana at kumaway-kaway.

Maya-maya lang ay gumilid at huminto ang limousine. 

Matapos itabi ni Sumner ang sasakyan, mabilis akong lumabas at tumakbo palapit sa limousine.

Nakabukas na ang bintana nito and Derek's cute smile instantly greets me. "Auntie Shallot!"

Barbara beams at me, siya ang may hawak kay Derek. "Have you changed your mind? Are you coming home with us?"

Umiling ako but I smile back, "May nakalimutan lang akong sabihin kay Derek."

Binuksan ni Barbara ang pinto ng limo at binigay sa'kin ang anak niya.

Mahigpit kong niyakap si Derek. 

"Auntie shallot? Shomething wong?"

"Derek..." I whisper softly in his cute little ear, "I love you."

Before I even see Derek's reaction, nahagip muna nang tingin ko ang halimaw.

He's smiling... so warm and so soft, as if silently telling me that I'm being a good girl. His good girl.

My knees feel weak and I just wanna melt again. 

Fudge cake with icings.

"Weally?! Me love you too Auntie Shallot! Me love you too!" Derek screams joyfully, and kisses both of my cheeks and lips.

I give him back to Barbara after, kahit ayoko pa talaga.

"Derek has a phone right?"

Barbara smiles, "We plan to buy him."

"Save my number on his phone once you bought him one, for now I'll save it on yours. Please don't call or text me, let Derek do it."

She laughs before handing her phone to me.

I save my number and give it back to her. Nginitian ko si Derek. "I'll visit you soon, Derek. Ikaw lang. Don't miss me too much."

"Isama mo ang boyfriend mo ha?" says Barbara, kinindatan pa ko ng bruha.

"Wala akong isasama dahil wala naman akong boyfriend."

"But I want to visit Derek, too." The monster says which makes me flinch, nakalapit na pala siya!

"Of course you visit my son too, Sumner! Why don't you save your number here, too?"

"Barbara! No!" Pero walang nangyari sa tangkang pagpigil ko. 

The monster has saved his number on my evil sister's phone.

Katapusan ko na.

Another week has passed.

Semester break is over and things are back to normal. Kaya nga heto ako ngayon, nasa pool area at may dalang bubble tea para ibigay sa halimaw. Kahit hindi nila PE ngayon, dito niya pa rin ako pinapunta. Parang naging meet-up place namin itong lugar dahil walang gaanong tumatambay dito.

The monster is sitting on one of the benches near the pool. 

"Here's your bubble tea, monster." Inabot ko sa kanya ang drink bago umupo sa kabilang dulo ng mahabang bench na inuupuan niya.  

He simpers, "Thanks." He sips his bubble tea and stares at me. "Come here so I can ruffle your hair."

Is he fucking serious? 

"I just styled my hair, thanks." sarkastikong sagot ko. 

"Come on, Charlotte."

"Ruffle your own hair."

"Do you want me to come near you then?"

"Hindi mo ba narinig? I just styled my hair!" Aba, kahit pixie cut ang hair ko, mahirap ayusin 'to ah!

Nilapag niya sa gilid niya ang bubble tea, tumayo at lumapit sa'kin.

I want to stand up and run, but I can't even move a single muscle dahil sa kaba. My heart is beating erratically against my chest like a madman. What the fuck is happening? 

In the end, pinanood ko lang ang halimaw na naglalakad palapit sa'kin. Napalunok pa ako paghinto niya sa harap ko. 

The monster pats my hair first, the ruffles it softly. "Good girl, Charlotte. Good girl."

Hoy heart! You're fired! How dare you beat like this in front of this monster?!

"Sumner!"

Shit, shit, shit! Kaninong boses 'yon?! 

"Nandito ka lang pala! Tsk, ang boring, walang tao sa Nest, si Hel naman kasama na naman si Clark—"

It's too late to hide. Nakita na niya ako. 

"Charlie?" Kyle asks as his eyebrows furrow, "Why are you here? And you're wearing our uniform? And Sumner..." baling niya sa halimaw, "Why are you touching her hair?"

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what I would like to call: katapusan ko na talaga 2.0.
